Great outfit and nice land
Hunt these guys every year for Turkey season. Justin is very helpful. The farms he has available to hunt are all top notch and full of game. Can't recommend these guys enough.

Drunken guides!
Stayed 4 of my 5 day hunt at Backwoods Trophy Outiftters. Backwoods describes it best! House was decent, a bit cramped with 11 hunters staying for the week, showers were very dirty upon arrival, rest of house was decent. The week before the hunt I emailed Justin, the owner, and asked for the exact lodge address to punch into GPS, as well as a packing list, and specifically asked if bedding was needed. Only to have no response whatsoever to the email. Upon arrival to Ahoskie called Justin to get the address and find the lodge. Upon arrival he here found no bedding. One hunter covered with towels because he received the same answer I did, no response! The food was good, and there was plenty for each meal. There was no review of state laws, regulations, no description of hunting area. Was woken up to breakfast then loaded up to be dropped off with instruction of our stands were "200 or 300 yards that way," this being in a strange place an hour before sun up with the possibility of bears roaming around. Which not to worry, none of the 11 hunters caught any glimpse of a black bear the entire week. The 'guides' also love the beer! One stopped at the store for a 12 pack on the ride back to the lodge and had 2 emptied by the time we made it back to the house, the next evening two of the 'guides' took a group of hunters together and "rode around drinking beer and shooting squirrels off power lines." Further evident from the strong beer smell radiating from the Tahoe as soon as I opened the door to climb in. My group paid for 5 days of hunting but could only stomach 4, then had to put as much space between us and these clowns! Needless to say would not recommend and will not be returning.

Black bear hunt
Great outfitter; would highly recommend. Justin and team run a good operation. Very laid back, customer focused, and knowledgeable about the area. While I didn't come home with a bear, I will definitely return next year for another try.

December Hunt
Justin has a great operation going there at Backwoods. There is a lot of land to hunt and the people at Backwoods know all the great spots. I saw a lot of deer and took an 8 point buck on the second day. I recommend this outfitter and will return to hunt there again.

Excellent
First, we have to say Unbelievable, the hunt was great. This was the first time our group hunted at Backwoods Trophy Outfitters. We never saw so many Bucks and Does in the areas we hunted. We want to thank Justin and Brian for a great time. They treated us like family. We also want to thank their wife's for the great meals they prepared. Also thanks for putting up with us for the 5 days we hunted. Especially for the one and only Johnny Stix, also known as McGuyver. Thanks again guys, see you next year.

This was the first time our group had hunted with Justin and we were all please with our experience. We all saw more deer than we had seen with any other outfitter we had been with before. Lodging was very comfortable. Excellent stands to hunt from. Every evening is like a family reunion with all Justin's relatives and friends and you are made to feel welcome. Justin is adding more property and stands as well as planting food plots so the hunting should only get better.

Deer hunt
Great hunt. Justin was great. The food and lodging was the very best. finally found an outfitter that was honest. Every stand was well built. The lodge is easy to get to. I am heading back there this year and with luck I will be hunting there for years to come.

If your looking for a great, affordable hunt , this is the place to be. The lodging is top notch, along with the food. You will not starve. All the stands are well built, and the loc ons are very sturdy and easy to get in and out of. You will feal welcomed as soon as you arrive and you'll be treated as if your family. You'll see plenty of deer. I already booked for this coming year and will continue to hunt at BTO in the years to come.

Colorado Hunting Information
Colorado is one of the best western states for trophy mule deer hunting and has the largest population of elk in the west.
Alberta Hunting Information
Alberta is a large, diverse province with rolling prairies, farmland, river bottoms, Boreal forests, and large expanses of the northern Rocky Mountains. Many species of big game, waterfowl, upland game and predators inhabit Alberta. Long known for monster whitetails, Alberta also is home to big mule deer, pronghorn antelope, elk, black bear, cougar, Canada moose, and bighorn sheep. In fact, 7 of the 10 largest bighorn sheep in Boone and Crockett record book are from Alberta. In addition to big game, Alberta offers some top notch bird hunting. Serious waterfowlers know about the large flocks of ducks and geese that call Alberta home or migrate through.
New Mexico Hunting Information
New Mexico is one of the top destinations for trophy Elk and Antelope hunting. Draw odds can be tough depending on the unit but landowner tags are also available for those who don't draw. Mule Deer are plentiful but generally of average size. Only a couple of units and reservations consistently produce big muleys.
