Elk Hunt
My dad and I just returned from 1st rifle season hunt for elk with Conrad. We were initially hesitant due to other reviews, but all hesitation disappeared. Conrad may have a sarcastic sense of humor but he has a heart of gold. He busted his but (as well as ours) to get both my dad and I our first elk. We each killed a 5X5. I killed mine the morning of the 4th day but missed a monster the first morning. If you want an easy hunt sitting and watching hundreds of animals this is not the hunt for you. If you want to work hard and be rewarded for that work, Conrad is your man. We would have lost 15 to 20lbs but his wife Linda is such an excellent cook we probably gained weight. We are going back next year on an archery hunt. We did not see any other hunters in the woods.

CONRAD WYGANT OUTFITTERS
THIS HUNT WAS A TOTAL LOSS... CONRAD WYGANT IS NOT A MAN OF HIS WORDS, RUDE,CAN'T HEAR, FOUL MOUTH INDIVIDUAL THAT SHOULD BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS... THIS TRIP WILL SURELY MAKE YOU MISERABLE AND YOU ARE GOING TO WASTE HARD EARNED MONEY FOR YOUR DREAM HUNT AND IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN... NO MATTER HOW YOU TREAT HIM, YOU WILL NOT SATISFY HIM.. THER ARE A FEW GOOD REVIEWS,BUT IF YOU LOOK THEY ARE DOCTORS OR SUCH THAT PROBABLY TIP HIM ABOUT 75% AND THATS WHY HE WILL GET ALONG WITH THEM. I THOUGHT I HAD DONE MY HOMEWORK, BUT MADE A BIG MISTAKE WHEN I SELECTED CONRAD TO TRY TO SPEND 7 DAYS WITH AND COULD ONLY PUT UP WITH 3 DAYS BEFORE I LEFT CAMP AND THEN HAD TO SPEND MORE MONEY ON A RENTAL CAR AND HOTEL ROOM BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET A FLIGHT OUT OF GUNNISON EARLY. TAKE MY ADVICE AND LOOK PAST CONRADS HIGH COUNTRY OUTFITTERS IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR YOUR DREAM HUNT........ GOOD LUCK, AND I HOPE THIS NARROWS DOWN YOUR SELECTIONS

LIKE MANY OTHER REVIEWS WILL TELL YOU, JUST STAY CLEAR OF CONRAD WYNGANT. HE IS A TOTAL LOSS. MAYBE AT ONE TIME OR ANOTHER HE WAS A GOOD GUIDE, BUT HE NEEDS TO LET IT GO AND TURN IT OVER TO HIS SON IF THEY WANT TO CONTINUE THEIR GUIDE BUSINESS.CONRAD CAN NO LONGER HEAR WELL ENOUGH TO HUNT, AND NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO TO SATISFY HIM, IT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. VERY RUD TO ALL HIS CLIENTS, NOT JUST ME, BUT EVERY ONE IN CAMP WAS TALKING ABOUT HIS AWFUL WAYS OF GUIDING AND TREATING PEOPLE. IF YOU CARE TO HAVE THE MOST MISERABLE HUNT OF A LIFE TIME THAT YOU HAVE DREAMED OF AND SAVED HARD EARNED MONEY TO DO SO PLEASE SEARCH WAY BEYOND CONRADS HIGH COUNTRY OUTFITTERS IN COLORADO TO DO SO. SURE THERE ARE A FEW GOOD REVIEWS, BUT THATS BECAUSE THEY HUNTED WITH THE OTHER GUIDES IN CAMP AND NOT HIM. HE IS A JOKE OF A GUIDE AND SURELY NOT A MAN OF HIS WORDS STAY CLEAR OR YOU WILL BE SORRY LIKE MANY OTHERS THAT DON'T EVEN WRITE THE REVIEWS AFTER THEIR HUNT.. GOOD LUCK SEARCHING

hunt was a total bust. owner/guide is one of the most rude, disrespectful, foul mouthed people i've ever met. dig deep and you will see many similar reviews from over the years. many bad things i could tell from the 3 days i stayed. left after 3 days. just shouldn't ever be treated that way much less be paying 3500.00 to do so. owner/guide is not a man of his word. probably was a real good hunter once but cannot hear well enough to be any more. made critical mistakes that cost me opportunities such as moving in plain sight of an approaching bull. cussed severely for being spoken to to tell him about a bull bugling that he could not hear. it goes on and on. not just with me but other hunters in camp. look somewhere else to spend your money.

the owner of high country outfitters being conrad wygant is a total loser when it comes to hunting elk. this was the worst trip that any hunter could of experienced..... 9days of vacation lost and lots of money threw down the drain.. believe me or not... you will find or for yourself if you go with him

Reviewer Comments: I was fortunate enough to harvest a 6x6 bull elk on the 2008 Rifle 1st season opening day. My guide worked hard but my dad hunted with me and he never saw a single elk to entire time hunting. Conrad needs to slow down for older guests and not loose them in the timber. I had a hard time keeping up myself at only 29 years old. The food was excellent and Linda is truly a great person and cook. Conrad was rude most of the times to both his guests and guides.

Reviewer Comments: I've rifle hunted with this outfitter multiple times and have gotten a bull elk every year-there are pictures of my last bull on the web site and video-big old 6x6 herd bull. I've been elk hunting for more than 20 years in every western state. This hunt is my favorite. Conrad is a character but he has a very good heart and runs a top notch outfit. This is not a wilderness hunt as you stay in excellent accomodations including a shower nicer than my home shower but regardless you are expected to be a hunter and to work hard. You drive to hunt locations each day and some drives especially to some prime draw areas can be a pretty good drive. The country hunted is beautiful elk habitat but as with any open range hunting you have to find the elk. As with any elk hunt the elk numbers can be affected by weather conditions, other hunters and rut related behavior. Each year I've hunted there I had different challenges but with the help of the outfitters "gut feelings" and the guides talents I've always found and harvested a bull elk. Planning on going back in 2010 and will take my son on his first elk hunt with me. I suggest you take advantage of the Gunnison area if you hunt here before and/or after the hunt and the flyfishing is great!

Reviewer Comments: Very poor hunting areas, not even old sign. The area was void of elk, all hunting was on public land and never seen an elk all week. Owner (Conrad) was rude, extremely foul mouthed and seemed a little unbalanced due to his unexplained temperment to guides and hunters alike...very strange. Maybe chemically imbalanced, not sure. Whatever the cause of disposition, it's and awful way to run a business.

Kansas Hunting Information
Kansas is one of the top producing monster whitetail buck states in the country. It also has some excellent turkey hunting and a few big mule deer in the western part of the state. Kansas has an excellent reputation as a top notch destination for upland birds. It has excellent populations of pheasant and quail due to the vast expanse of suitable prairie and grassland type habitat.
British Columbia Hunting Information
British Columbia is an excellent hunting destination that offers a wide variety of game species. Vast wilderness areas and pristine coastlines provide world class adventure hunting for those seeking that trip of a lifetime. BC is arguably best known for big coastal black bears, Canada moose, grizzly bear, mountain lion, Dall sheep and Stone sheep. Hunters can book a hunt with an outfitter and avoid the license drawing process common in most U.S. states.
New Mexico Hunting Information
New Mexico is one of the top destinations for trophy Elk and Antelope hunting. Draw odds can be tough depending on the unit but landowner tags are also available for those who don't draw. Mule Deer are plentiful but generally of average size. Only a couple of units and reservations consistently produce big muleys.
