Fall bear hunt 2011

3 Generation family hunting trip. Had a great time. Nice lake front accomodations. Great home cooked meals. Josh took good care of us, as did Chris, our guide for the week. Safe comfortable stands. Good bear habitat. I took a 160lb, my father took a 175lb and my 13 year old son took a 290lb bear. We plan on going back to hunt again.

Other Personal Experience: excellant

Overall Impression: very good

Recommend: yes

Reviewer Comments: My husband and I went on our first black bear hunt this spring. We were bow hunting and there were 3 other hunters in camp rifle hunting. We all saw and took bears. They varied in size with me seeing the largest bears by waiting and not shotting the first bear that showed up (like the men did). He keeps plenty of active baits and moves you if you are not seeing bears. We will go hunt with him again. I would recommend this hunt for a relaxing spring bear hunt for bow or rifle.

Species Hunted: BLACK BEAR

Game Quality: VERY GOOD

Accommodation Quality: VERY GOOD

Camp Condition: VERY GOOD

Food Quality: DID OUR OWN

Guide Experience: GREAT

Other Personal Experience: GREAT

Overall Impression: I WOULD GO BACK

Recommend: YES

Reviewer Comments: JOSH WORKED VERY HARD TO MAKE SURE WE ALL SAW BEAR AND KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING. THERE WAS 3 OF US HUNTERS ON A SPRING HUNT AND 2 OF US KILLED AND ONE MISSED. WE ALL SAW MORE THAN ONE BEAR. I HAVE HUNTED WITH OTHER OUTFITTERS AND I CAN SAY JOSH IS THE REAL DEAL. I HAD ASKED WHERE I COULD GET SOME WORMS FOR FISHING AND HE BROUGHT SOME TO OUR CABIN NOT LONG AFTER. HE PAYS ATTENTION TO DETAIL. HUNTING IS STILL HUNTING BUT IF YOU DO YOUR PART YOU SHOULD BE SUCCESSFUL WITH JOSH.

Species Hunted: Black Bear

Game Quality: Poor

Accommodation Quality: Poor

Camp Condition: Poor

Food Quality: Fair

Guide Experience: Poor

Other Personal Experience: Poor

Overall Impression: Terrible

Recommend: No Way!

Reviewer Comments: DO NOT waste your time or money. He is a pure scam artist who is only interested in money and lies about the accommodations you’ll be staying in. I hunted up there for 6 days this fall and didn’t see a thing. There were four other hunters up there who he calls “The Maryland Boys” (who by the way, were putting a roof on his house during the day when they were not hunting) who got bears, which I found to be pretty interesting. Even those bears were only about 100lbs. For anyone considering Maine for black bear, AVOID Eastern Ridge adventures you will save a lot of time, money and aggravation

Alberta Hunting Information

Alberta is a large, diverse province with rolling prairies, farmland, river bottoms, Boreal forests, and large expanses of the northern Rocky Mountains. Many species of big game, waterfowl, upland game and predators inhabit Alberta. Long known for monster whitetails, Alberta also is home to big mule deer, pronghorn antelope, elk, black bear, cougar, Canada moose, and bighorn sheep. In fact, 7 of the 10 largest bighorn sheep in Boone and Crockett record book are from Alberta. In addition to big game, Alberta offers some top notch bird hunting. Serious waterfowlers know about the large flocks of ducks and geese that call Alberta home or migrate through.

Manitoba is known as a top destination for avid waterfowl hunters. Huge flocks of ducks and geese can be found from the Arctic coast of Hudson Bay to the prairie potholes on the southern border of this Canadian province. There is no legal requirement for non-resident waterfowl hunters to use a guide, but many are available and a high percentage of non-Canadian hunters utilize them. In addition black bear, Canada moose and whitetails are hunted throughout the province.
