A trip to remember.
We had an awesome hunt and one heck of an adventure. Al and Shanna are amazing people and went above and beyond my expectations. The camp and food were great and we were definitely well taken care of. I would definitely recommend Elk Springs Outfitters to anyone who is up for the adventure.

Spring Black Bear Hunt
Great hunt and truly good folks at Elk Springs! I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants a quality remote spring bear hunt. After over 2 months of researching over 75 outfitters I decided on Elk Springs Outfitters out of McCall Idaho. I liked what they had to say on the web site but still had several questions of my own. I wrote Al & Shana (Owners) several times asking all the questions I and my wife had. My wife was a non-hunter but AL & Shana had no issues with her coming along on the hunt to watch and made her part of the hunt. They responded quickly with direct answers and their answers all proved to be 100% accurate. A real highlight to me is that you or you and your hunting partner are the only two hunters in camp. No other completion so all attention is on you. Also I really liked the fact that Al is the guide and owner so there is no middle man. This spring bear hunt was a fly in trip and they helped with the flight arrangements which was a big help. Once the 30 minute flight was over we met with Shana at the air strip and headed off to camp via ATVs. Camp was just what we expected. Nothing fancy, the hunters stay in a large wall tent with a wood stove and an outhouse about 30 yards away. The main building where meals are cooked and eaten was about 50 yards from the tent so everything is nice and close. Once we got settled in we had lunch and met with Al who was out baiting the sites. He asked what we wanted to do that night and I said hunt so we did. Via ATVs we rode to one of the 5 baited sites that Al baits every day so the bears are there and interested. This site was about a 1.5 mile walk to the site and he showed us the area with the best places to sit etc. Once we felt comfortable Al left going to scout some other areas. He gave me a 2 way radio so if we did get one to call, if not he would meet us at sun down. Short story is I took the first of my two bears that night. A nice black colored bear and we saw a black wolf on the way into the site. For the rest of the hunt I went out every morning with Al (my choice but you do not have too) as he baited the sites just in case a bear was on the baits. Of the 6 mornings we saw bears 5 of the 6 mornings. Of the 5 bait sites we saw bears on 3 of the 5 sites with a total of 8 different bears in 5 days of hunting. Of the 8 bears we saw three where color phased with 2 cinnamon and one chocolate. Al has a few trail cameras on the baits and we saw several other bears via the cameras but not during shooting hours. On the 6th evening I took a cinnamon color bear that I had passed 2 days earlier. Two of the sites are a nice 1.5 mile walk in, one site is about 1/2 a mile walk, one site is no hike at all and the last is about 200 yards. Al will suggest which sites he thinks will be best but it is your choice where to hunt. All sites are accessed via ATVs with the farthest site being about 8 miles from camp. Shana is the camp cook and all the meals where very good and we had plenty to eat every day. The meals changed every day so it was not the same meal day after day. Al did all the skinning of the bears and does a great job. I am having the black bear done in a full mount and the taxidermist was very happy with Al's work. This is a two bear area and the tags are cheap at $32 each. On average these are not huge bears with most being in the 175/200 pound range but we did see one chocolate that was well over 300 pounds but just could not get the shot. Per Idaho law you do not have to take the meat but we did and Al had no issue with that. They have a small freezer run by a generator to keep the meat cold to frozen. In addition to the bears we saw one wolf, several deer and elk and more grouse and chucker's than you could count which sure added to the hunt. During the day Al & Shana had no issues with letting us take the ATVs for a ride to see some of the local sights like the grave yard, old building sites, the river etc. Al and Shana are hard working and very honest folks who love what they do and do a great job. They are there for you and are very flexible and will try and accommodate all your wishes. My wife and I highly recommend them in fact we will be hunting with them again in the fall 2013 for a deer/wolf combo hunt. The only possible negative comment I can say it that the trip/hunt was over to soon.

Awesome Rustic Hunt
I will gladly send you my entire story of my hunt. My buddy and I wanted a rustic tuff hunt in the bush. We found with Al and Shawna. They were awesome and he put us on two 6 x 6 Elk and we brought home! It was physically challenging but a lifetime of memories. Would recommend them for sure!

Quebec Hunting Information
Quebec is probably best know as an excellent caribou hunting destination. Hunters from across the globe travel to Quebec to hunt their big Quebec-Labrador caribou migration. In addition to caribou hunting, Quebec offers black bears, Canada moose and whitetails.
Iowa Hunting Information
Iowa is one of the best Midwestern states for monster whitetail bucks. Non-residents must apply for a tag in their annual drawing. Archery tags are the most sought after and depending on what units you apply for generally take 2-4 years to draw.
Saskatchewan Hunting Information
Saskatchewan is home to giant whitetails and skies filled with waterfowl. Saskatchewan is located in the northern part of the central flyway and harbors huge numbers of migrating ducks and geese. Canada moose and black bear are plentiful. Hundreds of outfitters are available to provide whatever kind of hunt a guy or gal needs.
