Reviewer Comments: This was my second year to hunt with Sammy Frazier. The weather was very hot and the elk were deep in the timber. His guides work very hard to find you animals. Sammy found a isolated herd which had several 300 class bulls in it. We were on a rock hillside and the herd started coming down the mountain all around us. The wind was perfect and the some elk were within 10 yards. I killed a big 300 class bull! It was awesome. I owe it all to Sammy. It was one of my greatest hunting adventures and I will never forget it. Thanks Sammy!

Reviewer Comments: Area we hunted most pristine place I've ever been (lifetime hunter) Mr. Frazier & staff were most accommodating. Had 6x6 by 9:00 am. Saw numerous elk and 3 of 4 in party harvested nice bulls. One member of our party had the shot but didn't execute. If you go be in shape it's rugged country.

Reviewer Comments: I hunted with Sammy Frazier in Colorado's black powder season in September 2004. This was my second guided hunt with Sam and he proved again to be a master at finding the big bulls and getting the hunter an opportunity to shoot. I shot a beautiful 5 x 6 bull on the first morning. Everything about the hunt was all I had dreamed of and I would highly recoommend Sam and Frazier Outfitting for a quality experience.

Reviewer Comments: Every aspect of the hunt was a true outdoor experience. I was able to drive my Yukon to the camp site and the mountains were beautiful. We rode horses to the hunting area and then still hunted. The best part was I saw some great elk and was able to kill a huge 6x6 with 14 inch kickers. No matter what the circumstances Sammy will work hard to make sure you succeed. The bull was recognized by the Colorado Outfitters Association as the 2003 Best of Species Muzzleloader Elk 1st Place.

Reviewer Comments: Sammy runs a very excellent operation. I was impressed with his professionalism as well as his knowledge of the game in the area we hunted. Sammy manages to be entertaining while still being serious about the quality of YOUR hunt. My guide, Patrick, was outstanding as well. I was paired with another hunter who won the coin toss for first shot. He took a 5x5 at opening light on the first day. I got my 5x6 mid morning the 2nd day. We glassed the herd for approximately an hour and then had to reposition to get the shot. In both cases there was no pressure from our guide to take the shots we took. The hunt is at high altitude and is very physically demanding. I took my bull at 13,000+ elevation. The hunt was everything I had hoped for. Mountains are spectacular. I plan to return with my daughter to hunt with Sammy and Patrick again.

Reviewer Comments: All you really need to know is that I would book Sammy again. Fun, professional, serious when required. I shot a huge 6 x 5 at 7:00am day 2. Hard hunt with altitude/breathing issues. Worked extremely hard but worth every bruise and pound lost in the adventure. Come in shape but expect to be tested. The altitude is non-forgiving.

Reviewer Comments: We archery hunted for 5 days and saw several bulls in the 300 -330 class. With great effort from the guides we eventually scored. This hunt is everything the outfitter says it is. Sammy Frazier is a true outfitter / guide. You will not go wrong with this hunt.

Reviewer Comments: If you want the opportunity to see plenty of elk and the chance to shoot a real nice one, then get in contact with Sammy Frazier. But you better be in excellent shape. Be willing to hike a long distance to find the elk. Be willing to sleep in a wall tent on a mat when its 10 degrees. Be willing to get up at 3:30am and climb some rough terrian after a horseback ride. Be ready to crawl on your hands and knees for a good distance to get yourself in position for a shot. Thats what we did for three straight days until Sammy got me within range of a nice 6x6. During those three days we saw plenty of different elk. Several 5x5's and a couple 6x6's. It was physically draining and extremely thrilling at the same time. The food was excellent. Sammy and his other guide (Jake) worked extremely hard for us. The horses were gentle (great for a non-rider like myself). Sammy gives you a real confidence boost, everyday I went out I thought there was a real good chance that I would get an elk. Our group of three filled out by the third day. There were other unguided hunters in the area who had not seen elk yet. Once you get your elk he takes care of everything. (You help quarter it) If you want a free range hunt to remember and you can shoot and your willing to work at it, then Sammy would be a good choice.

Reviewer Comments: I hunted with Frazier Outfitting the first rifle limited rifle season 2001. This hunt took place in Unit 76. This unit is a limited draw area. In 2001 it took 6 preference points to draw a tag. Base camp was adequate. All equipment was in excellent shape and his horses are well seasoned and easy to handle. Be prepared to spend a lot of time in the saddle as horses are used to get you around. We used spike camps to get close to the elk to reduce saddle time. Elk were plentiful. The quality of the bulls was marginal. Our group of 8 took 8 bulls. He also had a drop camp of 5 and they took 5 bulls. Out of 13 bulls all were average in size. No one saw a bull that would pass the 300 mark. That doesn’t mean that they are not there. This area is huge and very rugged. If you want a serious hunt then this one is for you. If you want to play cards and tip a few beers then you should probably look elsewhere.

Reviewer Comments: If you saving points in Colorado, make sure you save enough to get into unit #76. Don't miss the opportunity to hunt with Sammy Frazier. This is a first class operation, with outstanding guides, excellant accomidations and outstanding food. Sammy is one of the hardest working fellows you'll ever meet and his guides and camp staff are a reflection of his work ethic, not to mention, some of the finest gentelman I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Weather conditions were against us and we still harvested 4 bulls out of six hunters and one fellow passed on a smaller Bull. Even with the weather, we saw lots of Elk. Had I not shot a Bull, this hunt would have still been a success in my book. I'll have memories of this hunt for the rest of my life. Breathtaking scenery, great camp, outstanding food, first class guides and britherhood. Life just doesn't get any better than that!
