Awesome hunt

Archery hunted with Dustin and Stan and had the time of my life. Although I did not shoot an elk I had several chances. The camp is great and the food is fantastic. Would not hesitate to go back.

Colorado Mule Deer Unit 61

Hunted with the Garvey's in 2nd season of 2010. Excellent Outfitter with excellent guides. Great food, great camp and great people! Killed a 185 B&C buck and passed on several in the 170's. Saw 10-15 bucks a day. If you are going to hunt deer in unit 61 it is a must you use the Garvey's. Stan has great private properties and the access thru private to unhunted BLM and National Forest. I will be back with the Gravey's to burn my 13 elk points. The elk hunter's that were there had 100% success on real nice bulls.

Excellent hunt. Group of 4 of us went. We all 4 took bulls. 5x5, 5x6, 6x6 and i took a beautiful 6 x 7 on the 3rd day of the hunt that grossed around 350 B&C. Hunt was more that i could have imagined. Saw up to 200 elk in 1 day (30-40) were bulls. This however was not the norm. Would usually see 20-30 though daily with many bulls. Guides went all out to try get everyone bulls (camp was 6 for 6 on bulls). Guides LOVE to hunt!!! Doylene (wife) is an excellent cook and no one ever goes hungry. Even homemade pies!!! We also had a group of mule deer hunters in camp that were doing well (weren't done by the time we left) on filling there tags. They take some nice deer!! I've been on 6 guided hunts and i don't think anyone can compare to this. TOP NOTCH!!! Will definitely go back ** If i remember, 2010 took 13 pref. points to get a elk tag - mule deer i think took 7 or 8

Reviewer Comments: Hunted the 4th season. Saw 10-20 bulls each day, with several in the 330 to 350 class. Got a good 6x6. This was with blue bird weather and a full moon. Also saw about a dozen bucks a day. I will book with the Garveys again whenever I can get an elk or deer tag for Unit 61.

Reviewer Comments: Garvey mainly hunts trophy Unit 61 in Colorado. I've hunted with them 3 times, and plan to go with them again. I've been very successful. 1995-5x6 elk and 3x3 mule deer; 2000-6x6 elk; 2008-4x4 mule deer. Top notch guides and camp personnel. Very good hunting vehicles. Lots of game in their area and they know where to hunt. They get many repeat hunters. They have one of the best outfitter web sites on the internet. If you plan to hunt Unit 61 in Colorado I highly recommend that you consider them.

Reviewer Comments: I have hunted with Garveys many times over the years. I have taken 2 6x6 bulls a 5x5 bull, 2 cows, 4 nice heavy horned bucks from 24" to 30" wide. one bear and a very nice 150lb mountain lion. The Garveys have become very good friends of mine. I am amazed at how hard Stan & his guides work to get you a trophy you will be proud of, not just fill your tag. Out of 11 tags I have only had one unfilled tag (Bear) Anytime I can get a tag in unit 61 I will hunt with Garvey Bros.

Reviewer Comments: My Dad finally got enough points to do a trophy elk hunt. He decided not to risk this 8 year investment and to hire a guide - a 1st for him. I came along to spot and film. Dad didn't research the Garveys much before choosing them, he just went off an acquaintances recommendation, I was skeptical. The Garveys proved better than my best hopes though - great guys, an extremely rich history of successful hunting and good camp accommodations in an area thick with trophy elk. Dad tagged a magnificent 6x6 opening morning thanks to some excellent spotting and guide work by Joe Garvey. It was awesome. I'd recommend the Garveys to anyone and am hoping to go back for my own elk, one of the huge muleys we saw, and a lion hunt. Stan's got a proven hound pack and guides many successful lion hunts.

Reviewer Comments: Stan Garvey and his staff provided me with the ultimate high country experience in Unit 61. They allowed me to pass on bulls until I found the one I was looking for. I took a massive 6x6 on the fourth day. These people are the real thing and I feel they are the best guides in unit 61. After saving preference points for eight years it was painful to make the decision on which outfitter to use. I made the right choice and it was truly an awesome hunt.
