just gets better
Just when you think it can't get any better, Goosehaven proves you wrong. The owners, Scott and Lynn, Have erected a massive metal building where you can be out of the weather to discuss the morning hunt and to organize your gear. Great for the guides and hunters. Our hunts this year were fabulous as in previous years. Limits of mostly Greater Canadians!!! And this is for our party of 11 hunters. Almost limited out three afternoons for ducks with a bonus of two Sandhill cranes. The "ribeyes of the skies". Thanks again to Andy, Lance, Ryan our guides and Scott and Lynn for great hunting and friendships. Will be back nest year.

goose/duck hunt
On September 2010, I hunted with Goose Haven Outfitters for 3 mornings of geese and 2 afternoons of ducks. Before booking the hunt, I checked with two other groups who had been before and were going back. All gave excellent reviews. After my hunt I agree, very good accommodations, good food ( and all you could eat), wonderful guides and knowledgeable outfitters. It exceeded my expectations. We did the all inclusive package which included license, shells, guides, lodging, food, and bird cleaning. Money well spend. Limits or near limits every hunt for the geese and ducks. We had birds where it felt like you could touch them. Will be happy to talk with anyone about my trip. Mike Nolan

A week well spent
I made this trip with a couple of friends and Goosehaven was 5 hunting days out of our 2 week feather fest. We went the all inclusive route feeling it would take some of the headaches out since we were driving from Texas with dogs and gear for all our stops. I believe it did. I see another(butch) has already put his opinions here and I agree but would like add a few of my own that may be helpful to those researching a future trip. First, I give Scott and Lynn the 5 star rating not because they served us on fine china, crystal and engraved silver with butlers or servants to load and clean my gun, if thatswhat your looking for go elsewhere. I believe they earned by providingexactly what they promised and working hard to accomadate my group and put us on birds everyday. The lodge was country cozey, clean(at least till we showed up, sorry Lynn) and stocked well. It had a great area inside to stay warm and visit with a large porch and a firepit area to use if you wanted. It had all the amenities to live in as long asyou needed. My favorite part of it was the large area inside the door to hang you everyday dirty hunting junk and boots. It sure was nice to get that stuff on inside whilr it and me were still warm. The food was all home cooking right there in Lynns kitchen. It was good, plentiful and you could eat till you hearts content. Seconds on dessert werenot frowned upon if felt the need. If you adk her Lynn will cook up some of the game your hunting for dinner too! We had a goose breast smothered in gravy that Im still trying to imitate at home. We made two hunts a day if we wanted and had space left in our limits. Basicly geese in the am and duck in the afternoon although we had many duck opportunities in the goose hunt. It was pretty much our choice...(cut em I say). If you had a few hours downtime you wanted killin the afternoon they have a some options and suggestions, just ask. The hunt was where Scott and his guides earned my respect. It was afterall the reason we came. No guaruntees about ducks and geese thats for sure but thats why you hire a guide. To increase your odds. It was obvious by the end of the first morning hunt these guys were doing their homework. Before we were evenback to thelodge these guides were getting scouting reports via the phone observeing potentail flocks every where we traveled. While we were hunting in the morning and afternoon, Scott and his other guides were scouting, everyday. We were including in the info sharing as much as we wanted to be. I even heard several phone calls from land owners and farmers in the area reporting bird activity they or their nieghbors were having. I think this type of networking and access greatly increases an outfitters chance of putting you on successfull hunts. During or after each lunch and dinner the guides would update us on the scouting info, give us their suggestion and opptions and we would have plan of attack for the next hunt for everything from what time we pull out to the basic hunt set scenario. I really enjoyed the involvement. It is what its all about to me. And, yes. We pretty much had duck and goose limits everyday. Our labs retreived a months worth of birds each(there were 3 of em) in 5 days. I cant say that will happen everytrip but I feel confident every effort will be exhuasted to make it happen. On a side note, 2 in our group prearranged for afternoon bear hunts instead of duck(i dont get it, but to each his own I say) and they were succesful. Do your homework. Talk to the outfitter, his clients and local any one you can. Then call Scott and Lynn back. If you like what they say book with them. They are honest, hardworking folks who want you to succeed.

Looking Forward to the Next Year
I have hunted with Goose Haven twice in three years and hope to make it a third time in four years. During our 2010 trip my dad was able to join us. I had talked about my experience for 2 years and he was somewhat skeptical. However, once the sun rose on the first day and the geese started coming I think all his skepticizm vanished rather quickly. Before we left the lodge, he was ready for next year. The reason for wanting to hunt again at Goose Heaven was not just the number of birds or the limits shot, but the entire experience. The hospitality is top notch with Scott and Lynn opening their lodge and home to us. The food was excellent and the deserts were even better (I have a sweet tooth). The guides are always respectful and knowledgeable about hunting waterfowl and the surrounding area. I have recommended this experience to numerous people and will continue to recommend Goose Haven Outfitters to anyone considering a waterfowl hunt in Canada.

Coming Back Again
Hunting at Goose Haven is like walking into the front page story on the last issue of Ducks Unlimited magazine. The terrain is open rolling prairie planted in oats, barley, wheat and chick pea. The potholes are filled with mallards and pintails. The morning sky is filty with Canadian geese and Specklebellies giving you a choice of species for your hunt. Excellent guides and decoy setups make the day in the field become a "field of Dreams". Back at the lodge, home cooked meals and desserts await your arrival. The sleeping quarters are warm and cozy and get well used, especially after the morning goose hunt and before the afternoon duck hunts. The fire pit outside the cabins is where the tales of the hunt are relived and tales of tales are told. Thanks Scott and Lynn; Jack Quack and our two other guides for two years of fine hunting. I'm coming back this September for year number three and looking forward for another great time at Goose Haven Canada

Ducks and Geese
Our group travelled from Texas to Goose Haven by vehicle, so we could hunt our own Labs. Goose Haven very accomidating. Hunts were more than we expected with great staff and guides. Have already booked 2011 hunt with Scott. Lodging and meals were great country style. Duck and goose hunting exellent, and guides worked extremely hard to make great hunts. Read negative report, we were in camp at the same time, we didn't see things as the gentlemen who made negative report did. Going back again.

Just finished our 2nd year going to Goose Haven Canada and our group all from South Louisiana certainly enjoyed our Northern Canada fly away hunt. Being from South Louisiana hunting most of my life, this trip was one of the most enjoyable i have experienced. Our group which is going back in October 2011 with and even larger group have never seen such an abundance of birds such as Goose Haven. Both Scott and Lynn and their staff were very cordial during our entire stay. The rooms and cabins were very clean and rustic at the same time. The food provided by Lynn were hearty and even though at times a bit bland, she had plenty of seasonings on the table to spice things up. I must say that the guides that we have utilized at Goose Haven are 1st class. The guys work hard to track the birds and stay on top of their movements to put us in front of birds each day. We were referred to this outfitter by another large group from South Louisiana that has been going for nearly 7 years. I must say for an operation of their size it is nearly impossible to obtain the availability of hunting at their operation unless someone else backs out or drops out. With this being said you do not get this following without having cabable staff, owners willing to work with their clients and a large abundance of birds. We will continue to be clients of Goose Haven for many years to come. thank you.

After reading the negative post bellow I felt a need to respond. I have also have been to first class lodges, jacuzzis in every room, two to a room with queen beds. Large bars with a bartender full of great free beverages. These lodges, everything is done for you; bring you coffee in bed and tell you what the weather is like outside so you know what to expect. Upon returning from the hunt they would have quail on toast and poached eggs, bloody mary or champagne. We had a guide for every two hunters and they would carry your guns and shells, place decoys, call the ducks, and heck they will even shoot your birds. The guides call these types of client’s sports, they will not honor you with the title of hunter. I am from Louisiana having been an avid duck hunter for 45 plus years, I enjoy being involved in placement of blinds and decoys. I have to wonder what these people would have done if on one of our hunts last year we got stuck and had to haul blinds and decoys in and out of the fields. Could you believe it? We also helped push our suburban and trailer out of the field from due to the sloppy winter conditions. The owners and guides at this camp are wonderful people, I feel that they go out of there way to make your stay comfortable and pleasant. The guides are awesome and work like crazy to make your hunt the best it can be. The lodging is more than adequate and clean and I have no problem with the toilet. Two years ago we had two men over 300 lbs. in our group and no issues. The suburbans are old but adequate and who would want to put a new Suburban on those dirt and gravel roads in Canada anyway? Wow, yes one had a busted muffler last year. This vehicle made a lot of noise but I figure they were more interested in getting us back and forth to the fields than replacing the muffler. I bet it is fixed now that the season is over. If you want to be a “sport” and have someone kiss you ass go to another camp this is not the place for you. But if you want good accommodations, home cooking northern style, and great hunting experience, I recommend Goose Haven Outfitters.

I have been hunting with goose haven for several years now and everytime I have been it has been great. I book the same week every year, the birds are always there and the hospitality is top notch. They have two beautifull log cabins, nice fire places inside and out. The guides do the footwork to find the birds to hunt, and they Always find the birds. Great hunting!!!

Ohio is best known for its trophy whitetail deer. In fact, the world record non-typical whitetail was harvested in Greene county by Mike Beatty in November 2001,
New Mexico Hunting Information
New Mexico is one of the top destinations for trophy Elk and Antelope hunting. Draw odds can be tough depending on the unit but landowner tags are also available for those who don't draw. Mule Deer are plentiful but generally of average size. Only a couple of units and reservations consistently produce big muleys.
Manitoba Hunting Information
Manitoba is known as a top destination for avid waterfowl hunters. Huge flocks of ducks and geese can be found from the Arctic coast of Hudson Bay to the prairie potholes on the southern border of this Canadian province. There is no legal requirement for non-resident waterfowl hunters to use a guide, but many are available and a high percentage of non-Canadian hunters utilize them. In addition black bear, Canada moose and whitetails are hunted throughout the province.
