Total waste of time and money
I hope this review saves someone some wasted time and money. We spent a forgettable day in the blind with a totally incompetent guide and his incompetent dog. We decided to try a hunt with Harrison after meeting him at a show and talking to some references. As light was breaking on the morning of our hunt our guide informed us that HE HADN'T BROUGHT ANY CALLS!! We are far from experienced callers and tried a little calling of our own but this was NOT what you pay for on a waterfowl hunt!! All morning the guide was walking around the blind, back and forth to the boat and out around the decoys CLEARLY diverting birds that were headed our direction. ON multiple occasions his lab went for long swims out around our decoys and chased birds that were swimming out of range. Danny must have other guides otherwise he could never stay in business but to continue using someone like this is a total joke. STEER CLEAR!

waterfowl hunting
Our group has hunted with Danny for quite a few years already and we always had the same great experience, including a number of times that we limited out in birds allowed, granted the weather and food sources played a big part of this, however we always had a great time and would highly recommend this guide to anyone. I went on this hunt with my son who is 10 years old. We had the time of our lives. We hunted 3 differnt blinds in 3 days. We had a differnt guide each day. Each one was nicer than the next. We shot more birds than we could have hoped for and Danny and is guys where very accomidating great guides. We can not wait to go back again.

We had an increadable day of hunting with Danny Harrison. The blind, calling, dog and guide were all first class. On top of that we limited out, the hunt will go down as one of the best days I ever had a field! Danny is a great guide and on top of that he is a real gentleman. My son, friend Dave and I could not stop talking about the hunt the entire way home. I can without a doubt recommend Danny for anyone looking for a great expenence on the Eastern Shore hunting waterfowl.

Harrison Outfitters Service
My Experience Booked a duck hunt with Harrison Outfitters service and was not impressed. After arriving the night before and checking in at the hotel, I called Danny Harrison (the outfitter) at around 3:00PM on the day before the hunt (it appeared that I woke him up). I asked him if he wanted to meet up with us sometime today. He replied no, and would have to call me back so he could then give me directions on where to meet him the next morning for the hunt. He called me back at 4:30PM, and started off by saying that when I called him earlier he was walking across a field scouting out some ducks for us. Now keep in mind that it was very windy outside when I first called him, but there was no wind noise, or irregular breathing from walking across the field. Also, I don't know who would scout ducks in a field when we hunted in a blind on water. He could have been but it was not very believable to me. He began to give us directions on where to meet him in the morning. At that time I asked him if the hunting location was only 10 minutes away from where we were staying, could he just meet us at the hotel to avoid getting lost at 5:00AM. His reply was no, if you can make it to St. Michaels from your home than you could make it to the meeting location in the morning. He then proceeded going over the directions again. The next morning we drove to the gas station that he mapped out for us to meet and we arrived before he did. We were the only vehicle in the parking lot when he arrived. Mr. Harrison parked his truck at the other end of the parking lot and approximately 10 minutes later he calls me on my cell phone and asks where we are. I told him we were parked in front of the store under the lights, he replied oh that’s you…drive over here to where my truck is so we can go over some paperwork. (Again the outstanding professionalism, he could not even drive over to our location. If we met the night before, we could have sat in the lobby of the hotel and completed the paperwork and went over a game plan for the next morning. This would have saved time for us and in turn allowed Mr. Harrison and his guide to have the hunting site prepared by setting out all the decoys prior to meeting with us that morning.) We drove over, met him, filled out the required paperwork, and were then we were introduced to our guide. The guide suggested that we get dressed in the parking lot because there was not very much lighting where we were going to park the truck. At that time we gear up, grab some coffee, and snacks from the gas station and headed off to the hunt. We literally drove across the street from the gas station, back into a neighborhood and arrived at the hunting location with in two mins. We just started to unload the truck with our gear when Mr. Harrison comes up to us and says - hey before you all start unloading all your gear, I need you to carry all those decoys down first, and then you can come back up and get your gear. He grabs one decoy and walks off. When he comes back the decoys were still there, so he replied - well I guess I’m going to have to get my boots wet for you guys this morning and continues to carry the decoys himself approximately 100 yards to the boat. (This is what I thought we paid for) We finished getting our gear together and walked down to the boat and meet up with the guide, and Mr. Harrison leaves. The guide takes us over to the blind and tells us to pull out about 100 or so duck decoys from behind the blind and start putting them out, while he puts out the other decoys that were put into the boat by Mr. Harrison. Not sure why Mr. Harrison left if there was still work to be done, but the decoys should have been put out by the outfitter since it was literally two minutes from where we met. I know this might be considered small stuff, and yes its not hard work, but in my experience that is the service, I was paying for. I did not hire a person to just come along with me to call ducks for me while I hunted in a blind. I hired an outfitter service to provide everything for me (which was not much I might add). This first shot of the day was at 11:45 AM and by 12:00 PM he only had blown barely used a call. Our next shot was just after 3:00PM. Ducks and geese were all over, but he was below average with his calling ability. All the ducks that we shot at had come in on their own, by surprise, and not by our guide calling them in. The guide was very nice and personable, and fun to hunt with, but his ability to call in the ducks was below average. In my experience with other outfitters, if the ducks or geese were within a few hundred feet of the blind the guide would begin calling and attempt to get you a good chance of at least a fly by. Our guide would barely attempt to call the duck/geese as they flew by, out of range. Other times I have hunted ducks/geese the guide would consistently call to strike their interest and maybe get the chance for the birds to get into range. We had zero birds come to the decoys due to calling. You can make your own choice to use this outfitter, but I will not be going back.

Reviewer Comments: Very poor service, Not impressed on the hunt or the guide. The guide rarely attempted to call in any birds, the few birds we shot at we by accident (unknown by the guide upon their arrival). You will be required to carry and put out their decoys prior to the hunt. Not impressed.
