Reviewer Comments: I have been hunting for 38yrs. and this is the first time I have never seen a deer on opening day.Out of the four days of hunting I saw 11 deer,3 were bucks and they didnt make it out past their ears. I was able to take my doe. However because of their earn a buck program I personally believe this program may be hurting their state. Out of 11 hunters only 1 buck was taken, I'm not sure if he would make 120 inches.

Reviewer Comments: I HUNTED THE 2008 GUN SEASON. CORY HAS A GOOD GROUP OF GUYS AT HIGH TINES THAT MADE THE TRIP COMFORTABLE. AS FAR AS THE HUNT ITSELF I WOULD NOT RECOMEND THIS OUTFITTER. I ONLY SAW 5 DEER IN FOUR DAYS. (3 BUCKS AND 2 DOES). THE BIGGEST BUCK WAS ONLY A 120 CLASS. 11 GUYS IN CAMP AND I WAS THE ONLY ONE TO SHOOT A BUCK! (THE 120 CLASS). VERY DISAPOINTING HUNT. 2 GUYS OUT OF THE 11 DIDN'T EVEN HAVE A CHANCE TO KILL THEIR DOE FOR THE "EARN A BUCK".

Mule Deer are plentiful but generally of average size. Only a couple of units and reservations consistently produce big muleys.

Iowa Hunting Information

Iowa is one of the best Midwestern states for monster whitetail bucks. Non-residents must apply for a tag in their annual drawing. Archery tags are the most sought after and depending on what units you apply for generally take 2-4 years to draw.
