Species Hunted: whitetail

Game Quality: terrible

Accommodation Quality: terrible

Camp Condition: terrible

Food Quality: good

Guide Experience: good with what they were worki

Other Personal Experience: ok

Overall Impression: terrible

Recommend: not at all

Reviewer Comments: 1.There is not one food plot. 2.The housing is terrible, dirty, old 1965 trailers with a foul odor of sewage. 3.There is a ton of 2 year old bucks about 120 if your lucky, deer management is a joke. 4.We were told that there has not been any gun hunting since the 90's but we heard first hand that shotgun hunting occurs every year on this property. In a nut shell,I am not the type of person to complain but as a business owner myself the worst thing you can do is lie to a customer and believe me Hunting Unlimited is a lie

Reviewer Comments: 2008 I hunted in the end of October, this was my 8th year returning to Hunting Unlimited to Bowhunt. My friend accompanied me to Hunting Unlimited and ended up killing her largest Whitetail Buck with a droptine on the 2nd morning in the rain and she filmed a 140 inch buck at 30 yards on the 3rd mornings hunt while she was doe hunting. My 1st evening in the stand I had a 160 inch class buck come into 60 yards from me but he was out of shooting range.I passed on many smaller bucks scoring up to 140 inches in the hopes of taking a larger scoring buck and I did take a nice big Doe. And yes we will both be returning to Hunting Unlimited in 2009 for another great season of bowhunting.

THE NEXT DAY I HAPPEN TO SNEEZE,AND THE OTHER HUNTER CALLED ME ON THE CELL PH HE HEARD ME. THE GUIDE TOOK US FOR LONGER WALK IN THE DARK AND PUT US CLOSER ASKED LARRY FOR MY MONEY BACK HE GAVE ME $200.00 I GUESS IF YOU CAN GET LARRY AWAY FROM THE WINE AND SHOWED HIM SOMETHING HE NEVER DID, IS HUNT WITH A BOW MAYBE IT WOULD IMPROVE THE CAMP.LOTS OF SMALL DEER.

Overall Impression: Affordable AND fun!

Reviewer Comments: I hunted turkeys in the spring of 2004 and worked probably a dozen different gobblers and heard too many to count. I shot a twenty-one pound bird with a 10" beard and 1 3/8" spurs. While there another hunter shot a bird with a 10 1/2" beard, twenty-five pounds, and 1 3/4" spurs!! I was fortunate to get my hunt on film by having one of Larry's year round guides film me. Where else will you find an outfitter with a guide who lives on the property year round to hunt turkeys, plant food plots, and scout deer. By the way, deer were abundant (found a shed from previous fall). I am coming back this spring (2005) and bringing two others with me to film and hunt for gobblers again! GREAT PRICE AND GREAT HUNT.

Species Hunted: deer

Game Quality: poor

Accommodation Quality: excellant

Camp Condition: excellant

Food Quality: excellant

Guide Experience: below average

Other Personal Experience: below average

Overall Impression: below average

Recommend: no

Reviewer Comments: This is the case of out of state guides who have no idea where the deer are because they just get there 1 week before you. We went early season october 3-8 and it was cold too. While everone's on the food plots we're in the woods seeing nothing, heck 2 deer sighted not able to shoot, in two whole days. Bottom line great accomidation but poor animal quality. He's too busy working on his grapes rather then his hunters, and so are his guides. Not reccommended

Reviewer Comments: I hunted here first week of october 2001. I saw lots of great deer. I was only able to hunt there for 2 days because we were on a womens only bowhunt with the Illinois Dept of Natural Resources. Larry was kind enough to donate eight 2 day hunts for us 8 women and I had a great time. You wont meet a nicer bunch of people than all the staff there. They were very knowledgeable and willing to bend over backwards to help you any way they can.I hunted first eveing and shot a doe but it was unrecovered. I hunted next morning and harvested a nice doe. Saw one nice buck not sure but think it would of scored between 160 or 170,Saw it driving out. Cant wait to return to Hunting Unlimited for a 2002 hunt.

Reviewer Comments: I hunted at Hunting Unlimited in the pre-rut of the 2000 season and weather was very warm. Considering the weather I saw a good number and quality of deer. I didnt get any shots at any P/Y bucks but I saw three quality bucks over the five day hunt. One buck approx 160 class was harvested the week I hunted between the five hunters. The owner Larry Hanold was very honest and provided me with what I expected. Between the five hunters I saw the most deer but the weather was definately a factor. Overall a good time and a good outfit. If I returned I would definately want to hunt the rut.(Mid-November)
