What you get for $3000.00
This place is the biggest rip-off I have ever seen. What you get is as follows: you get to sleep in a 16X10 bunk room with five other guys, it does have a bathroom with shower attached. You will get to make your own breakfast, i.e. toast, bagels, cold cereal or instant oatmeal, make your own coffee. You will have to make your own lunch with whatever you can find in the refrigerator, i.e. prepackaged ham, cheese if you can find any or peanut butter and jelly. For dinner you will get a buffet style service of rice and sausage, salad, water or iced tea, chicken and dumplings i.e. chicken pieces mixed with dough balls, peas and white gravy, venison tenderloins breaded cooked well done and cold. When you get to your stand, either a box blind, a ladder stand or a hang on stand situated over a crop field that has already been harvested you are advised to sit from dark to dark so you won't spook the deer. The locals will be road hunting around your stand, shooting everything they see out the window of their pick-up, they will also drive their truck out into the "food plot" that you are watching and spin some doughnuts, and if that isn't enough, they will off load their four wheeler and chase any deer they see all over the countryside. They also like to walk in on your stand and screw up your hunt for the day. This activity however will not spook the deer. Doug has no proprietary control over any of the land he hunts, therefore you will have to put up with the un-sportsman like conduct of the locals. As far as the 140' minimum, that is a joke. Of the three deer shot in camp, one might have made 130", the others wouldn't have made 120", no one paid a fine. The requirement for bow or muzzle loader only, also a joke, as you will see some of the guys in camp using a shotgun. You will also find out that you have to fork over another $47.00 for your hunting license in addition to the $300.00 you already paid. Doug's brochure looks pretty impressive, but you will notice that there are no pictures of the camp or information about meals, i.e. what they are, who makes them and what you will be expected to do. If you book a hunt with Illinois Whitetails LLC, Douglas Doty, you will have an experience you won't soon forget. Remember "All that glistens is not gold". I planned this hunt a year ago to take my sons on a trophy whitetail hunt total cost excluding travel, about $11,000.00, a total waste of money. I'm 68 years old and have hunted in camps all over the US and Canada, I have never been in a camp as poorly run as Illinois Whitetails LLC. I had to give this place a one star rating or the program would not allow my submittal, it does not deserve even one star.
