2010 New Mexico Antelope Hunt

I was very diapointed in this outfitter. I was told that my son and I were to be guided by Jim Welles, the owner of JFW. Instead, a ranch forman who didn't know the difference between a average and a trophy antelope ( his words), was our guide. He had a sorry pair of binoculars and no spotting scope. Out of frustration, my son and I took the first buck antelope we saw and headed for home. I would not reccomend this outfitter.

Outfitter Response: I am sorry to see this report. I recall the clients clearly and distinctly remember scouting the day before opening and giving his son the first pick on the bucks we saw. He is correct that the guide for them the opening day was the foreman who knows every nook and cranny on the ranch better than I did. The son choose the biggest buck we saw that evening, and we let him go for it first thing in the AM......for some reason they did not find it. By the time I met up with them again mid day, they had already taken 2 bucks at their choice from other areas on the ranch. The hunt was three days and they could have certainly had me guide them that evening or next day had they not already filled out. When I was told of this review I called the client to discuss the review and was prepared to offer a repair for the ill will. Never heard back from him. He never said a word to me regarding his dissatisfaction with the hunt. I'd have never known but for this review. We don't operate this way. We have lots of very satisfied references for anyone to contact should they want to. I truly regret the review being associated with JFW Ranch Consulting. Jim Welles
