Wild Boar Hunt
Fourth of July pig hunt on the JR Smith Ranch, King City, CA with Jesse Smith, Jr. as our Guide: Via word of mouth we (my uncle and I) were given names of two professional licensed guides, the first one we called was busy but highly recommended Jesse Smith and Jesse happened to be the second name on our list. Arrived at the Smith Ranch early evening of July 3rd in our RV and set up camp, at Jesse’s suggestion we sighted in our rifles at about 100 yards and shot a few squirrels with our .22’s. Nice bathroom and B.B.Q. facilities were available. Went to sleep listening to the coyotes howling in the distance. Very early next morning after coffee the three of us set out, after about three hours of serious hiking visiting several good but now vacant sites we carefully approached what Jesse calls the “Magic Spring” a small muddy watering hole and occasional pig hangout. We spotted 4 hogs at about 100+ yards, a big tusker, two good sized boars and a smaller pig. The big tusker was very nervous, moving around at lot, I was waiting for him to settle down when my uncle shot one of the other big boars, the tusker was gone in a flash. Later in the day I bagged a pretty good sized boar but not the big tusker I was hoping for. Very tired but very upbeat we went back to camp where Jesse skinned, cleaned and help us cut up, wrap and ice the meat. Just before leaving Jess Sr. a former CHP Commander came out with a bottle of Jack Daniels and we toasted the successful hunt. A very nice hunt indeed, we will be back next year. Took many pictures, got home and found nothing, the camera memory card was defective….

Iowa Hunting Information
Iowa is one of the best Midwestern states for monster whitetail bucks. Non-residents must apply for a tag in their annual drawing. Archery tags are the most sought after and depending on what units you apply for generally take 2-4 years to draw.
Alberta Hunting Information
Alberta is a large, diverse province with rolling prairies, farmland, river bottoms, Boreal forests, and large expanses of the northern Rocky Mountains. Many species of big game, waterfowl, upland game and predators inhabit Alberta. Long known for monster whitetails, Alberta also is home to big mule deer, pronghorn antelope, elk, black bear, cougar, Canada moose, and bighorn sheep. In fact, 7 of the 10 largest bighorn sheep in Boone and Crockett record book are from Alberta. In addition to big game, Alberta offers some top notch bird hunting. Serious waterfowlers know about the large flocks of ducks and geese that call Alberta home or migrate through.
Manitoba Hunting Information
Manitoba is known as a top destination for avid waterfowl hunters. Huge flocks of ducks and geese can be found from the Arctic coast of Hudson Bay to the prairie potholes on the southern border of this Canadian province. There is no legal requirement for non-resident waterfowl hunters to use a guide, but many are available and a high percentage of non-Canadian hunters utilize them. In addition black bear, Canada moose and whitetails are hunted throughout the province.
