New Mex Antelope
Chris Guikemma did a fantastic job in getting my son and I on top of some really nice Goats. He works hard for you from sun up to sunset. When we got to the ranch, he has multiple blinds set up. He also is not afraid to start a stalk when the opportunity is right.

Great Deer Hunt
I booked a mule deer hunt with Chris Guikema of Compass West Outfitters after drawing a great NM deer tag. Chris came highly recommended from a mutual friend and I was not disappointed that I used his services. It was evident that he had done his homework scouting and had me on nice deer right away. I didn't end up killing the biggest deer that we saw but I was very satisfied to kill my first mule deer nonetheless. The food was good and plentiful and the camp was clean. Chris and his guides are top notch and I will certainly use them again if I ever draw again.

This was a great hunt in not the best of conditions. Weather was warm and deer migration had yet to really begin. Guides were very experienced and every effort was made to ensure success! Camp was very organized, complete with kitchen tent and chef! Food was good with plenty of options each night! I was unable to stay the full time because of a work realted emergency, but I will without a doubt return. I have been fortunate to hunt in many places around the world and Compass West is one of the more pleasant suprises!

Compass West Outfitters Private Land Elk Hunt
I booked a private land hunt which was priced VERY reasonably. The all inclusive price included the Private Land Tag as well as the license. Accommdations were not bad with a private bedroom and shared bath. Food was OK. The guides were accomplished hunters and pretty good guides. Over all Chris Guikema the outfitter runs a high quality service. I would recommend this elk hunt to someone looking for a good crack at a nice bull. I ended up shooting very nice 6X6 bull on the 4th day. It scored right around 300 B and C Points.

First Hunt
This was my first hunting experience and I was teamed up with a fantastic guide who shared his 50+ years of experience. The company owner Chris acted as if he doesn't care if he gets repeat business. The food was warmed over week old burritos and canned soup. He was constantly making insulting comments and treating me as if I was a child. Left after one day.
Outfitter Response: Deer was taken on the first day of the hunt. Ranch owners wife made/makes great home cooked meals everynight for our hunters on this ranch!!

Reviewer Comments: I booked with Chris Guikema at Compass West Outfitters for a January 2010 mule deer hunt in unit 2C. Chris had done his homework by scouting out several bucks prior to my arrival and we were on them from the get go. I didn't end up harvesting one of the giants that this unit is known for, but I did kill a 4x4 deer on my last day of the hunt. We saw huge mule deer daily and Chris really knows this area inside out. I highly recommend Compass West for a deer hunt.
