Reviewer Comments: This was a last-minute hunt, arranged in connection with a business trip. Alan was most accommodating, and loaned me a rifle and clothes. I was the only hunter in camp, and was treated like a king. I saw magnificent wapiti, red stag, fallow deer, and goats. I took a great silver medal red stag, and enjoyed every minute of my hunt in the Leithen Valley. I was within 30 minutes of Gore, the brown trout capital of the world, but didn't have time to fish. Anyone who hasn't travelled to New Zealand, especially the South Island, should do so. It is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The New Zealanders are magnificent people. The exchange rate is great. I like everything about it, and can't wait to return for another hunt.

Reviewer Comments: On a recent short trip to New Zealand, I had two days to try for red stag. After numerous emails to Alan, he picked me up in Queenstown, and I hunted his 5000 acre ranch near Gore. I killed a magnificent stag on the first morning, and spent the next two days glassing huge wapiti (elk), red stag, fallow deer, and goats. It was great in every way, and very reasonable. I would go back in a minute!
