Great place to hunt elk

This is second year I hunted with Lobo. The hunting was tough because the rut had not really got underway and it was excessively hot - high 80's during the day. Great terrain, but not too rough to hunt. The guides are knowledgeable and work their butts off to get you a quality shot. The camp is great. You can get your truck to camp if you have 4 wheel drive, but the camp itself is still traditional camping. So you are roughing it and it is fun times.

2013 Archery Elk Hunt

This was a great hunt with good people. It was my first elk hunt and I had no idea what to expect. These guys know what they are doing and they worked their rear ends off to help you get your elk. I had the misfortune of becoming infected by a parasite prior to my arrival and which limited the second half of my hunt, but we saw elk every day. The first day, my guide coaxed a huge 6x6 within a step of an opening that would have brought him broadside at 35 yards. The second day, I passed on a small 5x4 and my guide and I watched him at 18 yards for about 5 minutes. The land is beautiful, lots of wildlife, including a meeting with a black bear maybe 20 yards away. Going back in 2014.

Reviewer Comments: My father, brother-n-law, and I booked with Lobo for the second rifle season in 2006. My Brother-n-law shot a small 6x6 the first morning. I saw around 100 head the first day, taking a 300 class 6x6 that afternoon. My dad hunted the entire five days, passing on several 5x5 and 6x6 elk. This is an oustanding area with lots of elk. Dick, Mike, and family are top notch people with great love of the hunt. Request Gwen as your cook.

Reviewer Comments: Hunted with Lobo outfitters in 2005. Hunted hard in weather that was not ideal. Other than days of near zero visibility due to fog, sighted elk every day. Guides worked hard and knew thier area well. Got a chance to hunt one of the spike camps the first evening...everything you would expect in a spike camp. Passed on several bulls before harvesting a respectable 5x5 the last evening of the hunt. I believe my week in camp we went 10 or 11 for 12 with one gentleman dropping out early due to health reasons. E-mail for more details

Reviewer Comments: I frankly did not know what to expect on this, my first "outfitted" big game hunt - but I should not have worried. The camp is comfortable, the camp food is good and plenty, the location is perfect, and the guides are experienced. We hunted HARD for three days - in that time I saw (and if I had been hunting with a rifle, would have had shots at) five great 6x6 elk and one even bigger. Even within handgun range, I passed on a like number of 5x6 bulls, cleanly missed a good 6x6, and passed on a 6x6 just out of my range - finally taking a very good 5x6 bull. No horror stories here ... this is a very good outfit with excellent game.

Reviewer Comments: The Rays run a top notch elk hunting operation in some of the best elk country available. I was put on elk every day and was able to connect on the fourth day of my hunt. The guides were very professional and friendly. Gwen (Mikes wife and camp cook) did a fantastic job preparing delicious and varied meals. I would recommend Lobo Outfitters to anyone interested in a top quality elk hunting experience. Any questions, please feel free to drop me an e-mail!

Reviewer Comments: I've hunted with Dick and Mike Ray several times. They're quality people and hunt excellent areas. Dick and Mike have always shot straight with me and the numerous people I've suggested to hunt with them. I highly recommend them to anyone interested in a quality experieance. On my first hunt with them I shot elk, mule deer and bear. We hunted hard, but they told me that's what we would be doing. I know if any hunter will listen and pay attention to what Dick and Mike tell them, they'll get their game.

Reviewer Comments: I have had the pleasure of hunting with the Rays on two occassions. Both of which were very succesful for me. Not just in the fact that I took a bull Elk, but the fact that I also had the opportunity of gaining lasting friendships, both with the Rays, their guides and fellow hunters. This is what makes a good hunt for me, not just a kill. I consider myself fortunate to have hunted with Lobo Outfitters and look forward to future hunts.
