Would Not Return

My Dad and I hunted with Plaska Lodge just prior to the peak of the rut during the 2008 season. We shared our camp with 2 other gentleman during this time. No one took a buck during our 3 day hunt, and only 1 hunter saw a decent buck (approx. 130" B&C) but elected not to shoot. The lodge and meals were great, but there was a definite shortage of shooter bucks. I definitely would not return.

Species Hunted: Wild Hog

Game Quality: good

Accommodation Quality: very good

Camp Condition: very good

Food Quality: good

Guide Experience: very good

Other Personal Experience: N/A

Overall Impression: very good

Recommend: yes

Reviewer Comments: Oren worked very hard for me even though the temperature was 100+, i took my hog on the last day mostly due to the efforts by Mr. Molloy. I will go back in the near future. The overall experience was excellent and that is the main objective of any hunt in my book. I saw alot of other game on the ranch and the variety of terrain was very intriguing. i would recommend Plaska to anyone. Ken Terrio

Species Hunted: whitetail deer

Game Quality: fair

Accommodation Quality: excellent

Camp Condition: excellent

Food Quality: good

Guide Experience: very good

Other Personal Experience: n/a

Overall Impression: good

Recommend: yes

Reviewer Comments: This seems to be a low percentage hunt. With a good chance to take a whopper if you hit it just right. The outfitter and guides try really hard to get you on game. They did not misrepresent the hunting in any to me. I saw one big buck (guide est. of @ 150 b&c) the first day and elected to pass since it was the first day. Did not see another mature buck.It is HUNTING.

Utah Hunting Information

Utah has recently been outstanding for trophy elk, but the best tags take many years to draw. Utah does have conservation tags available for purchase that allow hunters to bypass the drawing. Given the high demand for these premium tags prices can be high. In the past Utah has been a top trophy mule deer state but recently only a handful of units consistently produce B&C caliber deer.
