Half the bargain
My husband and myself booked a hunt together. Since this was our first elk hunt we wanted a fully guided hunt.We had a great guid ( at least for 3 1/2 days)then he had to go home. We never got another guid after that even we paid for a fully guided hunt. We rode up the mountain with the horses for 3 days ( 5 out of 10 hunters did not want to ride up anymore since it was dangerouse)( 2nd day my husbands horse stepped of the trail and fell into the creek bed)lucky he was benable to jump off and not go down with the horse.Same day another hunter fell of his horse because the saddle came lose. If you plan on riding better be in shape and not afraid to go up on small muddy trails. For the bag lunches be prepaired to eat every day the same lunchmeat since it never changed. Needless to say this hunt of a lifetime did not deliever what it promised. Most of the 10 hunters that where there left early and disapointed. We also left early. The outfitter seemed unpersonal and did not stand behind his promises.
Outfitter Response: This couple was very unprepared for ther hunt. They were chain smokers and unwilling to ride the horses into the hunting areas. We did the best to get them out to hunt but they wouldn't leave camp before day light and wouldn't hunt more than a few hours if they went out at all. We do our best to prepare hunters for the wilderness hunt but they were overtheir heads on this hunt.

Outstanding Drop Camp!
My father, brother, and I arranged for a drop camp hunt with Ripple Creek Lodge this past season. Located outside of Meeker, CO, the camp was set up in the Flat Top region of Colorado. We began at the lodge of course, where Dan Shwartz, the owner, gave us exceptional service from the beginning. We rode horse back with all of our gear about 3-5 miles up the mountains to about 10,000 ft above sea level. The terrain was everything we could have hoped for and there wasn't another hunting camp, or even sign of another hunter for miles around the camp. Unfortunately our first 3 days in camp were met with a constant downfall of snow which left us fairly a bit more imobile ten typical. However, the location of the camp was as such that we were not prevented from making our way to some prime hunting locations. We saw plenty of sign, but with the severe snowfall, most of the game remained bedded down as much as possible. Being that the weather was quite severe at the top of the mountain, Dan checked on our camp every day, bringing us any additional supplies we may have requested, which was very little since he already provided all the food we would need. After 4 days of the severe weather, Dan was aware of very high activity in a region a little lower of our camp and offered to pull us out of camp, and put us up in one of his lodges for the night. The day we hunted via horseback a miles back into the mountains in really prime territory. Sign and game were all over the place. To our demise, my brother's rifle jammed on the shot of an amazing buck. We did not come out of the hunt with a prize due to the first few days of extreme weather. Had it not begun snowing so early in the season this year, I am 100% confident all three of us would have come out successful. What made the difference in this hunt compared to others we have taken in the past is Dan Shwartz. The level of service and care we received from Dan FAR exceeded our expectations. He is one of the most honest, polite, and knowledgeable people about the movement of Elk in that region that all three of us have ever met. Maybe not for me, but for my father that has been hunting that areas for 30 years, that says a lot. I truly feel that after this hunt, Dan was just someone we considered our outfitter and guide, but a friend. When you are considering an outfitter for a drop camp or guide service, you would be crazy to go with anyone else. I would be happy, and will continue to recommend Dan and Ripple Creek Lodge to anyone. I do plan on using Dan's lodge in the future as well. Worth every penny for the hunt of a life time.

Wyoming Hunting Information
Wyoming is a great state for hunters! It offers a wide variety of good big game, turkey, small game, upland and predator hunting.
New Mexico Hunting Information
New Mexico is one of the top destinations for trophy Elk and Antelope hunting. Draw odds can be tough depending on the unit but landowner tags are also available for those who don't draw. Mule Deer are plentiful but generally of average size. Only a couple of units and reservations consistently produce big muleys.
Yukon Territory Hunting Information
The Yukon Territory is a legendary hunting destination. Hunters from all over the world travel to the Yukon for wilderness adventure hunting at its finest. This rugged, remote and beautiful province is nearly untouched by man. It is similar in size to the state of California but with a population of only about 30,000 residents. The Yukon is a vast, pristine wilderness that holds a tremendous variety of trophy game species. You should be in excellent physical condition to maximize your success and to enjoy the Yukon experience.
