Best Outfitter Ever
I have hunted the past seven years with SWO. Previously I hunted with various outfitters in the River of No Return Wilderness, Selway, Absorka - Beartooth Wilderness, and several Provincial Wilderness areas in Canada. Scapegoat Wilderness Outfitters is the very best operation I have experienced. Knowledgeable, competent guides, Great food, well cared for stock, excellent wilderness accomodations, and lots of game. As with any wilderness hunt the chances of success are greatly enhanced if you are in good health and condition, can ride a horse in daylight or dark, and don't spend evening hours consuming large quantities of prohibited spirits. Several weeks ago my seventh hunt with Scapegoat Wilderness Outfitters was negatively impacted by two such hunters who snuck in prohibited alcoholic beverages, missed the most productive hunting hours because they refused to ride in the dark, and were generally disruptive and antogonistic in camp. I have been assured they will not be accepted on future hunts. I am already planning on hunt for 2012 with Scapegoat Wilderness Outfitters. They are the best in my book.......

Think twice about this one!
Day one started out with only one person packing up the mules, we were told to be there at 8am, did not leave the trailhead until 2:30 in the afternoon. It was supposed to be a 7 day hunt, already lost one day. The owner was extremely rude to all hunters and his staff, every question that was asked of him was answered by a belligerent, belittling remark. The owner just wants your money, he is a poor hunter, refuses to communicate with you, and will treat you like a piece of dirt. We asked what time we would get up in the morning, the owner replied that we would get up when he got us up! He had to send one hunter home because a guide was I'll and he had no one to replace him, probably because he is such a complete jerk to work for. Food was minimal and not good at all, no desserts, cold sandwiches, cheap food. The horses were good stock, he treated them better than the hunters. Very few elk, plenty of wolves and coyotes. We did see one heard of elk, did the same exact thing 2 days in a row, but the owner, our guide, could not figure out how to get even remotely close, I suggested we play the wind and sneak up from the canyon below with the wind in our face, of course that was all wrong to him.... He simply rode around on his horse cow calling all day, hardly ever walking. The last day we were supposed to hunt but he decided we were leaving! Not due to the weather either, the jerk just decided to cut us one day short because he was short staffed. I do not mind not killing an animal, I do mind when the owner treats you rudely and belittles you the entire time.

Reviewer Comments: I have hunted with Bill on his wilderness hunt for elk and took a nice 6x6. I was hunting this time on his ranch/farm. There were three of us hunting mule deer. 2x1 hunter guide ratio. You can shoot either a mule deer or a white tail. I passed on several trophy white tails because I wanted a trophy mule deer. Saw HUNDREDS (yes, I said hundreds) of mule deer in just three days of hunting. One guy shot a nice 4x5 mule deer with eye guards the first day. I passed on several mule deer because they only had 24 inch spreads or were not perfect 5x5s (10 point) with eye guards. I missed a 5x5 with eye guards and a kicker point on the last day of the hunt while he was standing almost still. Third guy missed a huge white tail on the run and passed on a 23 to 25 inch 5x five minutes into the hunt on the first day and does not regret not taking it. He also passed on several good mule deer.

Reviewer Comments: I went in the last week of October in 98. Just found this web site. Bill is the owner and also guides for his outfit. This was a dry warm fall with no snow. Still saw three large herds of elk. I took a nice 6x6 and passed on a nice 5x5 mule deer. lots of mule deer. The herds contained larger bulls than the one I shot but they were not as willing to give a perfect shot at 100yds. There were 4 hunters including me. One guide to two hunters. Everybody shot but one person who passed on a mule deer and also could not get a clean shot at a huge 6x6. Mule deer came into camp everyday. No black bears were seen. Only a grizzly.

Alberta Hunting Information
Alberta is a large, diverse province with rolling prairies, farmland, river bottoms, Boreal forests, and large expanses of the northern Rocky Mountains. Many species of big game, waterfowl, upland game and predators inhabit Alberta. Long known for monster whitetails, Alberta also is home to big mule deer, pronghorn antelope, elk, black bear, cougar, Canada moose, and bighorn sheep. In fact, 7 of the 10 largest bighorn sheep in Boone and Crockett record book are from Alberta. In addition to big game, Alberta offers some top notch bird hunting. Serious waterfowlers know about the large flocks of ducks and geese that call Alberta home or migrate through.
Colorado Hunting Information
Colorado is one of the best western states for trophy mule deer hunting and has the largest population of elk in the west.
Saskatchewan Hunting Information
Saskatchewan is home to giant whitetails and skies filled with waterfowl. Saskatchewan is located in the northern part of the central flyway and harbors huge numbers of migrating ducks and geese. Canada moose and black bear are plentiful. Hundreds of outfitters are available to provide whatever kind of hunt a guy or gal needs.
