One for the record book

As a fairly accomplished western big game hunter with several trophy animals in the record books, I had high expectations when I headed to Northern Alberta for my first Canadian whitetail hunt with Blue Sky Outfitters in November, 2008 – and I was not disappointed! Although we saw several larger bucks, the one I took home was exactly what I wanted; a massive bodied, heavy antlered, near perfect 145-inch 8-point that made Top 10 in the SCI record book at the time. And, I was able to do it my way – spot and stalk with a muzzleloader – thanks to my hosts Kevin & Patti McNeil. The McNeil’s run a first class operation, with all the necessary equipment and comfortable well provisioned quarters for their hunters. Their attention to detail is testament to their ethic and experience and their genuine concern for providing a quality experience is obvious, as their hunters are made to feel more like family members than clients. Kevin is the consummate outdoors professional; knowledgeable, skilled well beyond competence and accommodating. He showed me a remarkable amount of game during my stay that included nearly 100 moose, elk, mule deer including several big bucks, wolves, red fox, coyotes, red squirrels, bald eagles, a beautiful snowy owl and oh yes, whitetail deer – lots of whitetail deer including a couple of monster bucks pushing the 180-inch mark! I am already looking forward to my next adventure with Blue Sky Outfitting.

Bluesky outfitters is a first class operation that is very proffesionally run. Everything is done for you from the minute you arrive until the time you depart. The accomodations are clean and neat with everything you could need. The food is excellent and there is always more than a person can eat. If you leave hungry it is because you did not eat enough. the hunting equipment is up to date and in superb condition. The guides are very knowedgable and are always looking to do whatever they can to improve the operation. They spend days and hours scouting, know where and how to place the decoys, how to call the birds in, when to call the shots etc. Even in foul weather they will make it happen. After hunting with several different outfitters, there are ONLY 2 that I will hunt with again and this is definetely one of them. I recommend this outfitter to anyone that is looking for a great waterfowl hunting experience.

Best hunt ever!!!!

I have hunted with Blue Sky for the last five years and will hunt with them as long as I can. Lots of birds and lots of in your face shooting. I have hunted all over the US and Canada and Blue Sky (Kevin and Patti) is my favorite place to hunt.

Utah Hunting Information

Utah has recently been outstanding for trophy elk, but the best tags take many years to draw. Utah does have conservation tags available for purchase that allow hunters to bypass the drawing. Given the high demand for these premium tags prices can be high. In the past Utah has been a top trophy mule deer state but recently only a handful of units consistently produce B&C caliber deer.

New Mexico Hunting Information

New Mexico is one of the top destinations for trophy Elk and Antelope hunting. Draw odds can be tough depending on the unit but landowner tags are also available for those who don't draw. Mule Deer are plentiful but generally of average size. Only a couple of units and reservations consistently produce big muleys.
