Mule Deer Hunt

Saw 30 - 40 Bucks a day but none of the B & C class. Disappointed in the buck I shot but as said no big ones around. Had hoped for better as previous year Whitetail hunt was my initial check out outfitter. Whitetail hunt was not high quality animals either. Outfitter, guides, accomodations , food were all very good. Animal quality below average expected. Excellent experience and adventure. Reccommend for an exciting time only. I had a great vacation, but came home without what I was after and expected.

Reviewer Comments: Unbelievable Mule Deer hunt. My guide and I looked over 40-50 bucks in three days of hunting. I wanted a non-typical and shot a 178 class 7 x 4 with great mass. These bucks have mass, mass and more mass. Fellow hunter in camp shot 30+ wide buck last year and killed a great typical 4 x 4 this year. All three hunters in camp shot great mature bucks. These guides are hard working and very knowledgeable, they are looking for mature trophy bucks.

Reviewer Comments: Was outfitter first year in business, though he had been a guide for a number of years previously. The hunt was late in October and almost missed rut. I shot a small moose on guide's call on first day. Very disappointing 26" spread, not at all trophy quality. Outfitter did try to make it right by offering free hunt if I wanted to return the next year. It was my first moose hunt and I was looking for a nice bull at least 35 to 40" which outfitter assured me were plentiful in area. Two other hunters in camp, one shot moose on first day about 35". Other hunter never saw anything. We later figured out rut ended on first day or so of hunt and bulls never came in to calls later. I took a small mulie buck about 21" - 4x4 late in hunt. Never saw anything larger. Hunted hard for whitetails but never saw anything. Accomodations were adequate, but would have not been if weather had not been fair. I stayed in wall tent but other hunters stayed in camp trailers. Outfitter did cooking. It was okay and filling, but nothing to brag about. Overall, hunting was poor, area was spectacular scenery abutting Banff National Park, guides and outfitter were good hunting and camp companions making for a good hunting experience, but not a hunt for a trophy quality animal.
