Great Outfiter
This was my second time with sunfish valley whitetails and I already booked for next year. Other than the fact that they have monster bucks and deer all over the place they have the ine of the nicest and best crew of guides out there. They are really dedicated to your hunt and giving you the best opportunity for a monster buck. The hunters that go there are also great guys and you will deffinently make friends. Most hunters there are return hunters and that shows a lot about how good sunfish valley whitetails is. I did a lot of research before I selected them and very happy I did. I would recommend Sunfish Valley Whitetail to anyone and have friends that will come with me next year because of the hunt I had. I was able to harvest an 8 point buck and two does. Matt and Brock Brewster are two of the nicest guys your going to meet and are also the owners. They did a great job with the outfit and looking forward to seeing them and hunting on their property next year.

First Class Operation
The guys at Sunfish Valley Whitetails run an honest and first class operation. From the top (Matt and Brock) down (guides and cooks), these guys made you feel really welcome and excited to hunt their property. Never for a moment did I doubt their ability and honesty to put me on some big deer. I am a lifelong hunter and understand the uncontrollable ups and downs of hunting. That's why we call it hunting and not killing. With that said, considering the terrain and amount of land that a mature whitetail has the ability to travel, I was absolutely amazed how well my guide Andrew knew where to set me up. Even though I never arrowed a "booner," I had plenty of encounters with one in particular and plenty of opportunities to settle for a Pope & Young. These boys know their OH deer! The food, lodge, guides, and plenty of trophy opportunites are what will bring me and the PA Boys back every year. Honestly, I left there with not only a great hunting opportunity but knowing a great bunch of guys that I can now call my friends!

sunfish valley
if you are looking for a hunt in ohio this is the place. if you are looking for a hunt anywhere this is the place. i have been on many hunts, and i have to say that sunfish is the best so far. they have great guides that know the area and will work to get you on a deer. you have to hunt hard and smart if you want to get close to one of these smart ohio bucks. the would cabins are great and the food will have you coming back for more. i would say that if you give sunfish a week of your time that you will see what i mean. i hope to see you there. shoot straight!!!

Oct 2012 Bow Hunt
Thanks to the SVW crew for the outstanding hunt I had this October. This was my second guided experience and I must admit I was more than a little skeptical after my first experience, but I quicky discovered the difference between a true outfitter and "others". The folks at SVW are hard working, knowledgeable, and accomodating. The guides worked extremely hard to put me on a trophy. They know the terrain and deer movements and were very aggressive in putting together strategies to intercept deer. Although I never closed the deal on a trophy I saw deer every day and had one excellent encounter with a 150 class buck. As bow hunting goes, the deer zigged when he should have zagged and I couldn't get an ethical shot. If you've never taken a chance on an oufitter, I highly recommend SVW. You might not shoot a pope and young deer because that's hunting, but you'll definitely be where they roam. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Great Time
Very great experience. This was my first guided hunt and I didnt know what to expect. My guide John was great and very accomodating. Saw tons of deer and several takers. However, I was unable to release a shot. The cabin and food was great. Overall, a wonderful experience and we will all be back again.

Rut Hunt 2012
My hunting party (5) hunted with Sunfish during the week of November 5th-9th. 3 of us were repeat clients from the year before. The weather was perfect, and we had a good moon phase. The first thing that was impressive was the warm welcome we received by Matt and Brock. They are 2 of the nicest people you will meet. They truly go out of their way to make sure you are having a good hunt. The accommodations were outstanding. The food was fantastic. The hunting is hard, but also very good. The terrain is fantastic for growing big bucks. Best of all, it is family owned, not leased. Mind you, we were there to hunt the Ohio giants that they have on their ground. We were not there to just shoot any 2 ½ yr old deer. If that was the case, we would have gone to Montana. We did not expect to see hundreds of deer during our trip. The deer we did see, where special. My hunting partner had 2 encounters with a 190" deer referred to as "back scratcher" on 2 occasions. He was out of range both times. I had a great encounter with a nice 140" 4x4 on the first morning, but he too was out of range. Heck, I had a young fork horn 4 point that must have weighed 150#. There were lots of smaller (100-120") bucks and does seen throughout the week by our party. Again, we were not there to shoot deer we can shoot in NJ. These guys have massive deer, and that is what we were after. We were hunting, not shooting! 2 others in my party had shots at deer, but they were never recovered. These deer are huge, and very strong. You have to respect the size and strength of these animals. I still have some mid west hunts to fulfill on my bucket list, but rest assured, I will be hunting these hills again in the near future! Matt and Brock have a good thing going here and encourage you all to give them a try. I learned more about deer movement and rutting behavior than I could have imagined. Watching these deer use the terrain to their advantage was worth the cost in itself. You can read all you want about the natural traits of these animals, but until you experience this first hand, you can’t comprehend it. I became a better hunter on this trip, and to me that was a success. I could have shot many smaller bucks and does during my trip, but I went out there to shoot something special. The bow never got drawn, but the memories are forever burned in my mind. On an aside… get in shape before you go. These are hills/mountains, and with leaves on the ground and heavy boots on, it will make the hunt more enjoyable if you have been spending time on the treadmill or elliptical machine. Thanks Matt and Brock! Scott Sellitto

2012 Archery
Bowhunting in the big timber country of Pike county Ohio can be challenging. In my opinion the team at Sunfish Valley Whitetails is doing a good job of managing for mature bucks by not over hunting their ground. I have been hunting with them for a few years now and have truly enjoyed it. They are fair and honest as they come. I harvested this 140 class 10 point on Nov. 4th and honestly thought it was a larger 12 point I had seen on trail cam pictures. Thank you to Brock, Matt and Andrew for another great season...

2011 Ohio Youth Deer Hunt
Took my son on a youth hunt and saw no deer in 2 days. What a rip off! They claim they own 15000 acres and can't show a 10 year old a deer! This is an example why youth hunting numbers are dropping. Do these people realize the youth are their future hunters. Avoid this outfitter.
note: The following reviews predate the numeric rating system and are not included in this outfitter's overall rating.
Iowa Hunting Information
Iowa is one of the best Midwestern states for monster whitetail bucks. Non-residents must apply for a tag in their annual drawing. Archery tags are the most sought after and depending on what units you apply for generally take 2-4 years to draw.
British Columbia Hunting Information
British Columbia is an excellent hunting destination that offers a wide variety of game species. Vast wilderness areas and pristine coastlines provide world class adventure hunting for those seeking that trip of a lifetime. BC is arguably best known for big coastal black bears, Canada moose, grizzly bear, mountain lion, Dall sheep and Stone sheep. Hunters can book a hunt with an outfitter and avoid the license drawing process common in most U.S. states.
Yukon Territory Hunting Information
The Yukon Territory is a legendary hunting destination. Hunters from all over the world travel to the Yukon for wilderness adventure hunting at its finest. This rugged, remote and beautiful province is nearly untouched by man. It is similar in size to the state of California but with a population of only about 30,000 residents. The Yukon is a vast, pristine wilderness that holds a tremendous variety of trophy game species. You should be in excellent physical condition to maximize your success and to enjoy the Yukon experience.
