Sammy Cantafio's Ungava Adventures

I had the good fortune to hunt with three other hunters from Utah. We hunted caribou at North Camp and were all tagged out by the end of the second day. Later we moved to Charlie Lake to hunt ptarmigan and fish for lake trout. Our guides were great and the camp staff was professional and the accommodations were clean and well kept. This was a truly enjoyable trip.

Reviewer Comments: It was a bad year (2007) for the Caribou migration in that area, but our camp still filled 16 out of 18 tags (much better than some other outfitters that week), including some nice bulls. Staff all very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Migratory animals are always hit-and-miss. Excellent ptarmigan hunting too.

Reviewer Comments: Just returned home from my first caribou hunt to northern Quebec. Had a fantastic time. My hunting buddy and I killed our 2 bulls apiece, with 3 of them in the nice to great category. Everything was well organized and the camp life was outstanding. With 8 hunters in camp we killed 16 caribou and caught a lot of lake trout. Would do this hunt again anytime!

Reviewer Comments: I went with 3 friends to Quebec for spring black bear with Ungava Adventures. This was my second black bear hunt and although the bear I shot in BC was larger, this was a more enjoyable experience. Bucky and Tom our guides were knowledgible, experienced, and a lot of fun to hunt with. Most of us saw at least one bear at each stand we used. We all tagged out within 4 days. The food was excellent and the cabins were comfortable. I would book this hunt again.

Reviewer Comments: I have hunted with Bucky Adams on 6 trips and feel that Sammy and Bucky are very honest people that make every effort to give you your money's worth. I have hunted 4 bear trips and one caribou trip. I trust my life with them and there are consumate professionals. Their guides (Dwayne, Tom Randall, Nathan, and Camille) are ccut out of the same cloth....Honest and hardworking. They can't guarantee you game. That is out of their control. But I have watched the various hunting shows on caribou and i believe my 2 bulls were better than any I have seen on TV at other outfits. And my bulls werent the biggest at our camp of 8 guys. I'm not a trophy hunter but am very pleased at what I got with them. Food was excellent. Go during fishing season. Bring a shotgun to hunt Ptarmigan also. Out of four bear trips I killed two really nice bears. I alwasy thought they gave me plenty of opportunity to shoot a good bear. the last one I shot weighed 305 lbs and squared 6'. And that was the true weight not the purported weight. Bucky weighs them with you there! There are some shady outfitters out there. You don't get 400 hunters a year if youre shady. I wholeheartedly recommend Sammy and Bucky.

Reviewer Comments: From the time I started discussions about a caribou hunt with the representatives of Ungava Adventures until the moment I stepped on the plane to reurn home from Montreal the folks with Ungava Adventures provided first class service. From their actions it is clear that customer service is of utmost importance. This is a first class operation. Everyone in camp saw and shot bull caribou. The quality of the animals sighted was very good. There was ample opportunity to be somewhat selective in your choice of caribou. Most hunters filled out within the first two days.

Reviewer Comments: We were put into a camp different than the one we were saposto go to because there were no annimals in our camp. We were told that we would be there for a couple days and then moved back to our camp. The rest of the group 9 in a tent made for 6 filled their tages in the 2 1/2 days but the weather changed and we were not moved since we didn't have any caribou either. Our Camp Mgr was run ragged just keeping up with our 9 plus the 4 in the other group. I had the only tag left after three days. none of the bulls taken were very big. Email me if you want to hear about he problems with the meat.
