Tony Piotrowski about Wilderness Hunting Lodge
One of the best places I have ever hunted. Friendly staff, priced right, and great food and accommodations. I'll go back again and again. The staff works hard for you so that you can accomplish what you set out for. Can't say enough good about this place.

This was the second time I hunted there. I will go back many more times. They were very friendly and bent over backwards to make sure you had a good hunt. I got a 600 + LB pig and a nice Black Ram. The accommodations were A-1 and the beds were very comfortable. The place was very clean and modern. The food was great and plenty of it,"I think I gained 10 lbs". They made sure that there was always food for you when you were hungry. There was plenty of the game you were looking for and good size and trophy quality. They butchered everything right there and shrink wrapped and froze it for you, it is a very efficient operation. And finally the staff was the most friendly and accommodating of any place I have ever hunted. I can't say enough good about them. I would recommend this to anyone. This is the most bang for your buck I've ever hunted at.

A-1 Hospitality
I will start off by saying this was my 3rd trip to the Wilderness! First and foremost the staff & family type atmosphere is outstanding! The delicious meals, breakfast, lunch & dinner all homemade and presented family style! Lodging is comfortable. clean and very comes with a beautiful view of a prairie and mountain side! Hunts can be guided, spot & stalk or from a blind. They can accommodate any hunter from young to old and as in the case with my father disabled, all you have to do is be able to shoot straight and SAFELY ! Now for the hunt! Among the dozen or more species exotics and there size and color, there are animals well into the trophy category all the down to filling the freezer! Once you shoot you animal the next time you touch it is when you are putting in to your cooler ! Processing is well above average and their sausage seasoning for Wild Boar is by far what keeps me coming back! I must add that you are treated as family here and it's a great way to start off a young hunter or take the trophy of a lifetime !

Nightmare Hunt
My Hunting partner and I planned this hunting trip all summer only to be disappointed. We selected Wilderness Lodge in Monterey, TN. Our first sign of trouble was when the GPS took us to the owners house instead of the Hunting Lodge. His daughter gave us another Map which took us 25-30 miles back the way we came to get to the actual Lodge. Once there, we're met by an older gentleman who actually lives on the premises. HE didn't know we were coming. When asked about food, he told us there was none since we came late. He told us to go across the road to the other lodge and select a room. When we go over to the other lodge, another gentleman comes in and we make small talk. He asked us if we ate and we told him no since we were told there was no food. He tells us there's food on the second floor of the lodge we just came from. We go back only to find the pot empty. Ok, so far, we're batting a 100% Goat screw. The following day, we go to the first lodge and have breakfast and get ready for our hunt. We get asked what we're hunting and we tell the older gentleman what we are there for. He takes us to an area where there's supposed to be Elk Cows and tells us he'll come by and check on us later. 3 hourws later, one of the guides comes by as asks if we had any luck and we tell him no since we've been looking for Elk the whole time. He then finds the only two Elk Cows on the property and takes us there. The cows looked to be about 1-1/2 years old. Since we have no other choice, we take them. The gentleman that shows up with a tractor asks what type of cut we want. I ask what type of cut they have and he says just regular. Ok, no choice so I guess we go with it. We watch when they cut up our harvest the next day and it was atrocious. They package the steaks and seal them and mark the bag as steaks but to look at them, you would not know what kind of steak. Now, there's no Cell phone service out there so we have to use their office phone to call. Right in the open next to the phone, there's a tablet with the names, adresses, credit card numbers, and codes for hunters credit cards. IN THE OPEN where anyone using the phone has access to it. The last night we spend there, a young man comes into our lodge and asked my hunting partner about some free samples he was told to come get. My partner tells him that he knows nothing about it and the young man goes into the processing house and into the freezer without anyone stopping him. Great security huh? I will not recommend this outfitter to anyone.
Outfitter Response: First I would like to apologize to Mr. Matos for not being satisfied with his hunt. As fellow hunters and business owners we strive to meet or exceed our customers expectations. We have reached out to Mr. Matos and tried to reconcile any issues he had, but we have not heard back from him. Secondly I would like to address some of the issues he has claimed in the order he wrote them. 1) "Our first sign of trouble was when the GPS took us to the owners house instead of the Hunting Lodge." This has happened several times in the past because people drive to the address on the site clearly listed as the "billing address" rather than following the written directions just below that address. The directions to the lodge can also be found on the FAQ page including the GPS lat/long. We prefer people to use the written directions because most GPS units bring people in via a one-lane gravel road that's about 5 miles long and VERY steep with switch backs not friendly to RV's, people pulling trailers, or during inclement weather. 2) "Once there, we're met by an older gentleman who actually lives on the premises. HE didn't know we were coming. When asked about food, he told us there was none since we came late. " This sounds accurate. The older gentleman wouldn't really need to have been informed you were coming since he basically only points you to your room. It is not unusual for hunters to tell us they will arrive on a certain date, and either show up a day early or a day late. I apologize about the meal. One of the struggles in providing meals is trying to prepare enough food for everyone, with out wasting to much. 3) "The cows looked to be about 1-1/2 years old. Since we have no other choice, we take them." Of course Mr Matos had a choice. NO hunter is required to shoot an animal he is not satisfied with. 4) "The gentleman that shows up with a tractor asks what type of cut we want. I ask what type of cut they have and he says just regular. Ok, no choice so I guess we go with it. " This is completely inaccurate and the statement contradicts itself. If we only offered "just regular" why would he have bothered asking what type of cut you would like? The fact is we have a complete meat processing facility right on site and can cut animals to your exact specifications. We do offer what we call a "regular cut" that includes the cuts most hunters seem to prefer (burger, steak, roast, etc). However, I want to state again, we can cut your meat any way you want it done. 5) "there's no Cell phone service out there so we have to use their office phone to call. Right in the open next to the phone, there's a tablet with the names, adresses, credit card numbers, and codes for hunters credit cards. " This is an issue we will address if true. Typically written down credit card info is handled at a different location where very few employees even have access. Rest assured we take the security of your credit card information VERY seriously!

Worst Hunt Ever
I really don’t know where to begin to describe how disappointed I was with this operation. The website first sent us to the wrong address, we ended up at your house! Then had to drive to the Lodge, his daughter gave us a map so it wasn’t the first time that had happened. they need to fix the website, give the right address! When we finally did get there, there was no food, (we got there at 6 pm). Some caretaker told us to go to the lodge next door and asked if we wanted to buy a T-shirt, there was no furniture, the linens stunk, the beds were hard, and we had to search for toilet paper! They knew we were coming for over a month and we were greeted like that. The communication there was a joke, We didn’t know who was in charge, who was a guide, who was a hunter, just a bunch of people running around trying to avoid us. When we finally did get to hunt, we make the mistake of shooting the only 2 Cows that were there, they placed them there to harvest, We really didn’t realized we were shooting calves from this spring. I can’t believe he charged us that much money to shoot a 200 pound cow!!!! Then the processor was so jacked up I couldn’t even recognize most of the cuts of meat. Most of the bags were not sealed and the meat inside them was really just that MEAT! The worst cuts I’ve ever seen! Then as a final insult, the processer decided to pull the Ivory with a pair of pliers and ruin the ivory. I had plans to have a Christmas gift made from it, Oh well merry Christmas to the wife huh! But at least he had someone, not sure who, run into the lodge at the last minute selling 20 dollar cheap T-shirts, I guess it’s all about the money right. The really funny thing was the numerous vehicles that pulled into the lodge during the night going into the cooler and walking out with stuff, one even came inside the lodge and said “he was getting some samples”. I’m glad they didn’t get any of my meat, I only ended up with 100 pounds anyway! His operation is a joke and I will be sure to post this on every outfitter review site that will hear it. They don’t have to worry about me being back. By the way satellite TV has been around for 30 Years, takes about 30 minutes to install, But they might have to spend some money.

Alberta Hunting Information
Alberta is a large, diverse province with rolling prairies, farmland, river bottoms, Boreal forests, and large expanses of the northern Rocky Mountains. Many species of big game, waterfowl, upland game and predators inhabit Alberta. Long known for monster whitetails, Alberta also is home to big mule deer, pronghorn antelope, elk, black bear, cougar, Canada moose, and bighorn sheep. In fact, 7 of the 10 largest bighorn sheep in Boone and Crockett record book are from Alberta. In addition to big game, Alberta offers some top notch bird hunting. Serious waterfowlers know about the large flocks of ducks and geese that call Alberta home or migrate through.
Quebec Hunting Information
Quebec is probably best know as an excellent caribou hunting destination. Hunters from across the globe travel to Quebec to hunt their big Quebec-Labrador caribou migration. In addition to caribou hunting, Quebec offers black bears, Canada moose and whitetails.
New Mexico Hunting Information
New Mexico is one of the top destinations for trophy Elk and Antelope hunting. Draw odds can be tough depending on the unit but landowner tags are also available for those who don't draw. Mule Deer are plentiful but generally of average size. Only a couple of units and reservations consistently produce big muleys.
