Reviewer Comments: This was my first guided hunt but not my last. I hunted in the last week where moose hunts were conducted. The moon was full and the temperatures were warm so game movement was slow. I got my bull moose in the second day and saw two other moose. Even after the harvest of the moose my guide made sure I stayed busy had a great time. All of the guides worked hard and the cook was outstanding. While this was my first guided hunt several of the other hunters had several prior guided hunts and they all said that this was an outstanding outfitter. I will return.

Reviewer Comments: Many people believe there is a moose behind every tree in Newfoundland. I was guilty of that train of thought and quickly learned that was simply not the case. This is a tough hunt with changing weather, long walks, mixed emotions and total reward in every way. If you are in good physical shape, hunt hard, and stay positive, I have no doubt you will be successful with this incredible outfitter. I have hunted several times with different outfitters in Canada and Africa and this outfit is by far the best run, well managed outfit I have ever come across. Ray and his guides are some of the greatest people I have ever been privileged to become friends with. I hunted with Newfoundland Wilderness Oufitters in August and October of 2007. My wife went with me to go fishing. My August hunt was an archery hunt that was simply awesome. I turned down opportunities to shoot a cow and some small bulls. I was in search of a big bull. My guide Gary put me in front of 13 moose during the week and one very nice bull. I did not get a shot as he stayed about 80 yards out. My wife booked a fishing trip and although the salmon run appeared to be over, she took some very fine brook trout and had a wonderful time. Her guide Terry was very good about finding fish and helping her become a better angler. I rebooked with Ray for October since the moose tag is good for a full year. I could not hunt the full week and Ray made special concessions for my wife and I to be able to leave early. I took my bull (a 14 point bruiser about 1200 pounds and 37" spread) on Tuesday. The reward was well worth the work and I was never so proud of an animal in all of my life. My time spent at Newfoundland Wilderness Outfitters was soemthing that I will never forget. Having hunted with a couple of different outfitters, I can say with confidence that I have never felt so at ease and truthfully, so at home. The time spent after the hunts with Verlie and the guys was time truly spent with friends. There is a difference between outfitters and guides going through the motions of good business and outfitters and guides who are just good people and enjoy your company. These people are some of the best I have ever met. If I had not shot a moose on either trip, I would still recommend this hunt to anyone for the atmosphere alone. My wife and I have made friends for life. The processing of the meat and cape is handled very quickly and efficiently. The camp is equipped with all the basic amenities including electric (generator), running water, shower, etc... Everyone works together and everyone cares. A great outfit. I cannot wait to return for caribou and spring bear. Please feel free to email me and ask me any questions you may have about this awesome experience. Rob Keesler thestar42004@yahoo.com

Reviewer Comments: Saw a huge cow my first day hunting and passed on her. By 0900 my second day I had an awesome bull moose. Third day I got my caribou - first caribou I saw. Caribou are truly a majestic animal. Camaraderie was unbeatable after the hunts. Guides were knowledgeable and had excellent skills. I loved the area and countryside, miles and miles with little sign of people. I am planning on going back someday.

Camp Condition: Excellent

Food Quality: Incredible

Guide Experience: Great, very hard working

Other Personal Experience: Excellent, you won\\\'t go hun

Overall Impression: Fantastic

Reviewer Comments: I did not take a moose or bear, but not for lack of trying! Ray and his guys worked their butts off trying to find game but hurricane winds and rain had the game hiding. Verly (the chef) will make sure you are not hungry and time spent in the basement around the wood stove with the guides was time spent with friends...my wife and I are going back in October 2007.

Reviewer Comments: This was my first hunting trip with an Outfitter. I have learned so many new things and have experienced so much. The staff was excellent for the experience, the good times, and the great food. I saw many animals-some a little too close-just ask Terry. The weather and scenry were beautiful. I shot my first BIG game animals on this hunt and the staff was just as excited for me as I was for myself. Hope to go back someday-maybe at my next BIG time birthday!

Reviewer Comments: Ray Saunders runs a terrific operation. The lodge is clean and comfortable and the food is good and plentiful. The guides are knowledgeable and hard working. You are made to feel that you are with friends and not just a client.I took a very nice caribou and a respectable Moose. All told three hunters took 3 bull moose and 2 caribou stags. The trip was everything I had hoped it would be. I certainly plan to be back.

Reviewer Comments: Second year in a row hunting here. Got a moose both years. Only saw 1 moose this year because it took me all of 15 minutes of hunting to fill my license. Saw a magnifficent carribou less than 100 yards away while retrieving my moose. Three hunters in camp and all three got their moose and the other two hunters got the carribou they were hunting. 100 percent. It Can't get any better.

Reviewer Comments: Very enjoyable and successful hunt;five of us went on this trip and four of the five connected for a moose-(3) bulls and (1) cow. This success was accomplished in spite of the weather not co-operating;rain and high winds for the first three days. All the guides are very helpful and knowledgable; each hunter has his or her own personal guide (1:1)Guides work very hard to make your hunt a success. Facilities,lodging,equip.etc. are very good. Food excellent;lose five lbs. before your trip because you will certainly gain weight with Verlie's cooking and desserts.

Alberta Hunting Information

Alberta is a large, diverse province with rolling prairies, farmland, river bottoms, Boreal forests, and large expanses of the northern Rocky Mountains. Many species of big game, waterfowl, upland game and predators inhabit Alberta. Long known for monster whitetails, Alberta also is home to big mule deer, pronghorn antelope, elk, black bear, cougar, Canada moose, and bighorn sheep. In fact, 7 of the 10 largest bighorn sheep in Boone and Crockett record book are from Alberta. In addition to big game, Alberta offers some top notch bird hunting. Serious waterfowlers know about the large flocks of ducks and geese that call Alberta home or migrate through.

Colorado Hunting Information

Colorado is one of the best western states for trophy mule deer hunting and has the largest population of elk in the west.

Arizona Hunting Information

Arizona has lots of trophy big game but is probably best known for its trophy elk and mule deer. This partially due to the limited number of tags available.
