Rut hunt for deer
Good quantities of game seen. Quality down due to Blue Tongue a few years ago. Lodge/food average. No real complaints other than would have been nice to know about quality decline prior to booking.

See my prior reviews for the last six straight years. Ill say it again, this is the best all around hunt in North America, bar none. Deer,Antelope, Upland birds, waterfowl, prairie dogs and for me this year, even a tundra swan tag. Look no further. Also, if your a bird hunter, skip the Dakotas. Eastern Montana has much better variety and quality.

Reviewer Comments: see my impressions for the last five years straight. If you are not hunting with the Kiehls you are making a mistake. This is the best plains game hunt in North America, Antelope, quality mule and whitetail deer, four species of upland birds and ducks and prarie dogs. Not a minute of a day is ever wasted.

Reviewer Comments: I just returned from my third hunt with Dwayne and Oren. On the third day I finally "settled" for a 6 x 7 muley with slightly over a 29 inch outside spread after passing on at least 25 other bucks. I was the last of nine successful deer hunters. Several others had drawn antelope tags and were also successful by day 2 of the hunt. The staff and guides were not only great in the field, but the food and accommodations were great. After the deer hunting was over, everyone enjoyed either prairie dog shooting or bird hunting. On the last day, three of us limited on pheasants within a mile or less of the camp. If you want to have a great hunting experience and enjoy even better people, this is the place to go. I'm already making arrangements for a return in 2010.

Reviewer Comments: First time Antelope hunt and chose Dwane and his guides to make it happen. I was not disappointed! Even with a big snow storm dropping in on top of the hunt, Dwane and his guides adapted to the conditions and made sure my hunt was a success and I was able to bag an average buck and a doe. I had asked to try my hand at prairie dog shooting if there was time, so when I tagged my doe early on the last day, the guide took me to a prairie dog town where I spent 4 hours taking shots at the pdogs. That was a heck of a lot of fun! I had a great and enjoyable hunt with a fine outfitter and his guides.

Reviewer Comments: Please see my prior 2006 review. This year was even more remarkable due to a viral infection that killed many of the antelope and deer. In spite of this, the hunt was a huge success for all involved and as usual, everyone in camp tagged out on both antelope and mule deer. I have hunted nearly every section of North America, this is the best hunt with the most outstanding outfitters and hunters you will ever meet. More importantly, I had personal issues that caused me to miss my first hunt dates, Dwane simply said "come when you can and we'll fit you in", that speaks volumes about the quality of the individuals you will meet here.

Reviewer Comments: See my prior reviews from 2005 and 2006. I have hunted all over North America, from Washington State to Florida, Arizona to Northern Quebec, this hunt beats them all hands down. Look no further, call the Kiehls. Additionally, I had severe family issues this year that forced me to cancel my first scheduled dates, Dwane rescheduled me as a personal favor and I have never felt more welcome.

Reviewer Comments: Duane is the first outfitter who lies about how big the game animals are. Most of them are bigger than he tells you on the phone. Vitually all of the mulies I saw were at least Pope and Young. I Hit a big one that I didn't find. Arrowed a nice goat and passed a 20 yard broadside on a cow elk because of the 6 by 6 behind her. A muskrat in the wallow spooked an elk calf and the bull followed the calf. I rebooked this year before I left last year. My buddy had 3 big bull elk inside 40 yards and didn't shoot. He blew shots on goats. Got the jitters I guess. With a little bit of luck I could have gone 3 for 3 on a five day hunt. I don't know how it could have been better even with the horrible weather we had.

Yukon Territory Hunting Information
The Yukon Territory is a legendary hunting destination. Hunters from all over the world travel to the Yukon for wilderness adventure hunting at its finest. This rugged, remote and beautiful province is nearly untouched by man. It is similar in size to the state of California but with a population of only about 30,000 residents. The Yukon is a vast, pristine wilderness that holds a tremendous variety of trophy game species. You should be in excellent physical condition to maximize your success and to enjoy the Yukon experience.
Utah Hunting Information
Utah has recently been outstanding for trophy elk, but the best tags take many years to draw. Utah does have conservation tags available for purchase that allow hunters to bypass the drawing. Given the high demand for these premium tags prices can be high. In the past Utah has been a top trophy mule deer state but recently only a handful of units consistently produce B&C caliber deer.
Kansas Hunting Information
Kansas is one of the top producing monster whitetail buck states in the country. It also has some excellent turkey hunting and a few big mule deer in the western part of the state. Kansas has an excellent reputation as a top notch destination for upland birds. It has excellent populations of pheasant and quail due to the vast expanse of suitable prairie and grassland type habitat.
