Species Hunted: Elk: Archery Season

Game Quality: Very Poor

Accommodation Quality: Good

Camp Condition: Mediocre

Food Quality: Less than quality

Guide Experience: Pitiful

Other Personal Experience: Poor

Overall Impression: Run don't walk away

Recommend: Recommened suspension of licen

Reviewer Comments: Outfitter misrepresented his hunt. No archer in the first three seasons even saw one of the quality elk that he stated that "virtually everyone has shooting opportunities to take". This would be for 310+ animals. Only animal of this quality seen on their properties was when one hoped a fence AFTER shooting hours. Treestands were DANGEROUS. Used dead branches as steps. Some were inverted. Didn't even know where their safety belts were. Some of the double bull blinds had rods hanging out. Stay away from this outfitter. We have filed a complaint and several others have also. Now found out that he was already under probation for other violations.

Reviewer Comments: Well this is my third hunt with Musselshell and the first for my son. We not only seen nice mule deer, but good herds of elk, antelope 30 to 40 at a time and wild turkeys. The food was Excellant. My son got the first buck the first day. Our guide Randy did a great job of getting him a good shot, also his first buck, boy will it be hard to top. I also shot a good four point the last day of our hunt after passing on several. I have been here for the third time and can't imagine that you could hunt here and not see any animals. But after all some peaple may forget this is hunting and even though you have a guide he can only put you in a good area. Maybe this is the reason high fence operation are becoming so popular. But for those of you that would like a good hunt with good peaple I would highly recomend musselshell outfitters. Thank you, Randy and Jenifer for another great hunt. Darrell and Bryce Brown

Species Hunted: Antelope, Mule Deer

Game Quality: average to excellent

Accommodation Quality: good

Camp Condition: good

Food Quality: great

Guide Experience: great

Other Personal Experience: great

Overall Impression: even better than expected

Recommend: Yes, highly

Reviewer Comments: FIRST CLASS is the only way I can describe it. The camp is nice, the guides great hunters, and the cook is in a class of her own. Mr. Higgins is an honest, upfront, hard working outfitter. The material and information provided was accurate, concise, and easily understood. The only surprise was that the camp, people, and hunting area's were even nicer/better than expected! The bottom line is that I had a terrific hunt. Seeing new animals, walking new terrain, meeting new folks with a common interest was absolutely wonderful. I got a taste of Montana hunting, and I like what I saw/experienced. In fact, I'm already making plans to go back. I have hunted all over Alaska as well as other states and countries. I can tell you from first hand experience that Musselshell Outfitters is a quality operation, despite what a few negative posters would like you to believe. I have never had a guide or outfitter work as hard as Mr. Higgins and his crew to ensure my happiness and satisfaction. I will be going back.

Reviewer Comments: After a bunch of lies an a hunt from Hell I called the MT outfitters Association an he has had 3 violations all with disciplinary action resulting in fines and his Lic. on each violations was give 18 months probation. Has of this report his Lic is in active Probation. Don't think of hunting with this guy. One of the violations was he did not pay his guides. Another was he hired guides that were not Lic. The other was a citation from the MT fish and wildlife for guiding /hunting on land he did not have permission. If you don't believe me call the MT Outfitters Association 406-841-2373.

Reviewer Comments: Week of my hunt was a week of high wind. Saw lots of does, but the big boys kept out of sight. I enjoyed the hunt in spite of not making a kill. Mule Deer hunters in camp did much better, everyone except 1 mule deer hunter brought in a really nice mulie. Can't address the problems some of the other post raise, but i was very pleased with Randy, Jennifer and guides. I know the grain fields on the Musselshell River hold some really nice whitetails, and I'l return as soon as possible to hunt with Randy.

Reviewer Comments: I was told and read on his web site that there was a good concentration of Elk on his leased land, There has been a 100% shot opportunity on 300 class bulls each year, I would see good bulls every day, there were large Muley bucks in the 28" spread that I would see. I hunted 6 days and Never saw a Elk on any of his leased land and Never saw a Muley buck of any size, did see some does. The 10 hunters ahead of me told me the same story upon my arrival, NO ELK!! Ask him for the names of them that hunted the week of September 8-15, 2004 I was there 16-23rd . There was also 4 antelope hunters in camp when I was there get there names also they will tell you about how much game he has. If you can't get them from him e-mail me I will give you there phone numbers.
